I'm sure it means PS Plus which I already have.

It wouldn't mean PS+, not when individual game rentals are the second option for Playstation Now. That said, PS+ users will prolly get some benefit.

Also, the mere announcement of Playstation Now has caused GameStop's stock prices to plummet. I lol'd.

I would be really annoyed if you can't get free streaming for games yo already own.

If I can't stream what I already have, it's a good thing I don't own too many things for my PS3. I am a former Microsoft follower so most of the games I have are for my 360 so that's a relief but yeah I know what you mean. You should probably keep your PS3 then just to be safe.

Probably.

I wonder how they would allow you do that. Hmmm.....

I think it's a cool idea and the idea of renting some of the games is a huge plus. I would love to play Beyond: Two Souls but I'm not paying 50 bucks. Before, I could just rent it at a store but they don't exist anymore.

Though, I think both MS and Sony should offer rentals on downloadable games.

Last night, Steam revealed their console, the Steam Machine. 12 different companies will work on a version of the Steam Machine, and their price will range from $499 to $6,000. In the link is a picture of what it will look like:

I honestly can't see myself buying one when I have a perfectly good PC with Steam on it.

Renting games online is a great idea, it baffles me how it just comes up until now. Really, wow, if they make it renting with a buying option -so the buying price if reduced if you buy it during your rental time-, this is going to be a really qreat addition to this generation.

First time I'm actually hyped for anything Sony...

I think that settles it: the Xbone is dead.

Umm what?

Why?

Bit early.

And also unrealistic.

The PS4 has been a bunch of hype over nothing, conceptually we haven't been offered anything in particular. The Xbone has shown direction and ambition from the get to go, which is what has kept me hoping for it having a great comeback.

Now, if Sony is actually going to develop new valid ideas into the next generation, I don't see Microsoft having any edge against them.

Well streaming games isn't anything new. OnLive is one example.

Also, the question that streaming games will actually work 100% of the time is something that needs to be asked. Sure, having the ability to stream games is great but unlike movies, if there is any slowdown, it ruins everything.

It seems like a nice feature. I doubt it will make much difference in the "console war"

It will probably be the same difference as having backwards compatibility.

I think it's cool and I hope MS does it as well.

More info about PS Now.

It's another subscription, it doesn't seem that you can stream games you already own for free and for some reason, you need Dualshock 3 controller.

Removing backwards compatibility and not allowing free access to games we already own is seriously lame.

Why do I need to go out to buy a DualShock 3 to play last gen games? The PS4's DualShock 4 looks exactly identical to all the other PS controllers and has the same properties with the major difference having a touchscreen in the center. That makes no sense.

I misread the article.

It says you can use Dualshock 4 on PS4.

I don't supposed you could stream a game you already own on disc since there's nothing tying you to that disc.

Digital games for which you already have a license could be feasible, and I hope things go this way.

One of the reasons I particularly dislike buying anything digital (as well as many people) is not having a sense of ownership over the content. As servers are not forever, and games get pulled once licenses expires (publisher's licenses) there's an uneasiness when it comes to owning anything in the cloud. Getting banned, connection problems and being dependent on the whim of the seller are real concerns. That's why MS couldn't get away with it... just yet.

Now if you offer me to stream digital games I already own regardless of their legacy status, things get much more enticing. Better yet if it's available in a wide range of products and not just the next best thing.

Problem is streaming also requires servers and upkeep and you just can't get those free forever

If the license expires, you still have the ability to download your purchased game, just not purchase it.

I would stream games if you can rent them. I don't know if I would get a subscription though. If they allow you to stream your old games you own for free then I'm all for it. There must be a barcode/SN on the box that allows them to differentiate between individual copies of the game. If it takes a phone call/picture of the barcode then let's do it!

Some of the PC games do that when buying retail, I brought that Binding Of Isaac and it came with a Steam key to use.

And now you can't play it?

On Steam, if the game gets removed from the store, you can still download it.
