Thor: The Dark World

Kind of surprised I didn't find a thread for Thor when I searched. Anyway, some new photos:

In the images, we get our first good look at a scene from the movie and it looks like Game Of Thrones helmer Alan Taylor has made good on his promise to ‘ditch the CGI’ and ‘make the worlds more grounded’.

Sounds good to me, cuz I thought the CGI was a bit overdone in the first one.

I duuno...Nolan had minimal CGI for Batman & that turned out mediocre for me.

How's the God Of Thunder supposed to stand out amongst mortal men without CGI?

I think what Alan Taylor means by 'ditching the CGI' he's talking about the CGI looking worlds that they walked around in with the first movie.

But the visuals of Asgard was one of the best things about the first movie, even if it was CGI. Why take away a good thing?

Okay, feel free to merge then. Lousy search function..

As i posted this in the other thread

There's a rumour that this sequel will introduce Dr Strange

like how the first Thor functioned as a way to introduce Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye before his big Avengers debut.

Captain America is my favorite superhero, but this is currently my most anticipated of the Stage Two films. The Malekith mask is a bit different (maybe CGI-covered in the film?), but it could work well in the film's favor. This whole storyline is great for film adaption. The more medieval tone might really work in the film's favor, because it introduces more, less-Norse worlds.

I don't know if they really are masks, or just something to use as reference for CG artists to work with later. I think the latter.

Since the first film was shot on soundstages in California and on location in New Mexico, doing the sequel over in England with more lush forest available gives you more opportunity to shoot outside for a magical feel.

Obviously CG reference masks.

Jaimie Alexander's SIF Role Been Slightly Reduced because of an injury

Well that's a shame. Like her as an actress, though I guess to be fair, her character didn't have that much a role in the first Thor to begin with.

I heard about this. Doctor Stange in the Avengers would be perfect! I'm hoping this rumor is true.

Thor is my most anticipated of the phase two films. The first one was my favorite of the phase one films (except for Avengers of course) and Thor is my favorite Avenger, rivaled only by Doctor Stange. Having both of them in the same movie would be great for me, but I'm still disappointed that Strange isn't getting his own movie.

Heres a plot synopsis:

The prince of Asgard and God of Thunder, Thor (Hemsworth) battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from an enemy that predates the universe itself and a shadowy race led by the vengeful Malekith (Eccleston) who intends to plunge the universe into darkness. Confronted by an enemy that even Odin (Hopkins) and Asgard cannot overcome, Thor embarks on a dangerous journey that reunites him with his love Jane Foster (Portman), and will force him to make the ultimate sacrifice to save the universe.
The whole 'enemy that predates the universe itself' and 'enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot overcome' sounds like the perfect enemy to bring in Doctor Strange to for.

As for the 'ultimate sacrifice' part, I'm thinking Foster or Odin are going to die.

Also, rumor has it that they got Viggo Mortensen as Stange. The guys an excellent actor, and he definitely looks the part.

Viggo rumor was debunked I think.. even if Strange is in this, i doubt he'll have much to do

Tom Hiddleston is a fan of the comic Journey Into Mystery which features Kid Loki

And so he should. Pity the film counterparts never have hopes of venturing into such splendor. Unless Marvel enacts TV rights aggressively and starts storytelling on an epic level.
