Well there is a reason Rulk is inconsistent, he can't use his energy powers which allowed him to defeat the upper tier characters. This isn't even his worst showing recently. His fight with Domino (which not sure if it's canon, as some stories in AvX Vs #6 were canon and others werent) was far far far worse.
