People just want to take this hate against George Lucas to their graves, it seems. They're hardwired now. The sun comes up, and fresh rants about the PT come up with it.

its ok. as long as you will be here to greet each new day by marginalizing the opinions of those who disagree with you via strawman tactics.

Well isn't that how you're supposed to do it?

well this is interesting

it could very possibly be matthew vaughn directing:

It feels like half the filmmakers in Hollywood have been rumored for the Star Wars Episode VII gig at this point, but one of the first names to crop up was Matthew Vaughn. The X-Men: First Class director popped up on a supposed shortlist just days after the Disney / Lucasfilm deal was announced, and his mysterious recent exit from X-Men: Days of Future Past suggested he had something up his sleeve.

Now, it looks like that early guess could prove to be correct. During a recent interview, actor Jason Flemyng dropped a few comments that suggested his longtime pal Vaughn was on board, or at least circling. Watch the video after the jump.

By his own count, Flemyng’s worked on nine films with Vaughn, including all four of Vaughn’s directorial efforts. So when the interviewer asked whether Flemyng and Vaughn had discussed Star Wars, the actor jokingly responded that he was “sure” he’d get approached by the director.

Then, seemingly upon realizing that Vaughn had not been confirmed for the job, Flemyng made an awkward expression and attempted to backtrack...

Yeah but if you didn't like his later work, you would just say that. End of. A lot of people hated Star Trek TNG, and only loved the Original.

Did Rodenberry get anywhere near the hate that Lucas gets? Nope.

But people continually trash Lucas for the PT, the CW Series, giving money to charity even! He just can't move without someone trashing him nowadays. And a lot of it comes from supposed "beloved fans" of the OT!

Well in fairness Roddenberry left his original work alone.
Look how many ST fans hated the last one because of a little parallel universe continuity.

Oh I do. Well I think the CW series was infantile and was a big disappointment because it seemed to pander unneccessarily to trends in mass marketed generic trendism and it messed with virtually every unwritten law that made SW good originally. No sense of danger or character depth (On the 1st season alone, I base this: Granted) or grit/character. Even visually: Why is it assumed that people wouldn't like animated SW unless they have oversized pie eyes and a de-gritted/'filtered for cuddly' design?
(Is the sterility and cutesiness really neccesary? In ANH we saw burned skeletons and planetary genocide.. ROTS saw the murdering of Jedi Kids. And we grew up fine.)

I still will always love the OT, and feel disappointed when its messed with unneccesarily.
The totally extraneous NOOOOOO in ROTJ that ruined the tension in one of the sagas most climactic, most beautiful moment...the Jabba-hiring-a-Yazzum-fronted-chicago-blues band for the redone more generic-to-earth version of a song that sounded alien enough in the 1st place..! But recorrected Lightsabres, blinking Ewoks, Recorrected Yoda in TPM....im all for it.

That "Noooooo" and the redone Jabba's hideout bit pissed me off having those as the only HD versions avaliable on Bluray. (I do sympathise with the frustration other fans feel in that regard and they shouldn't be demonised for failing to blindly accept whatever is put in front of them.) Many of them will fight to the death to defend SW against real hateful naysayers online..give em a break. They're fans.

Cool. This is pretty encouraging.

"Overuse" being an understatement. 'Hate' has steadily come to mean something equivalent to 'dislike'. I hear people use it in such a broad range. They'll use it to describe their feelings about a song they don't like, and then also use it to describe how they feel about Nazi war criminals. Talk about overkill.

I really hate that.

Aye.

See what you did there... 😉

This can be the intro music, it'll be both retro and hip.

i'm going to retract my last title. the titles always describe a new turn of events occuring in the film rather than a pre-existing set of circumstances. anything about "new order" or "new republic" etc would have already begun 30 years ago.

since this is the start of a new story with a (hopefully) new antagonist, i think the title will have to be of a portentous nature which introduces them.

So you accept "A New Beginning" is the way to go. Good. Contact Disney immediately and tell them it's a go.

I'm talking about the newer order. The new jedi order that was put into place by Luke after the fall of Palpatine's galactic empire.

Why must I continue state the obvious over and over. Isn't the subtitle that apparent enough?

What would you suggest then? How about "SW ep. 7: Dawn of Prospect"

stop making a public spectacle of yourself and look up "portentous" in the dictionary.

once you've set aside an hour or so to read and learn the definition, then feel free to totally squash my point...you know...when you get the point.

anyone want a job as a translator?

Just pass it on to an automaton. Though I'm not sure it'll be able to help.

it doesn't translate from english to jibber-jabber

let me rephrase.

"me think title dark and BAD! OOGY BOOGY BOOGY! mean and rotten things will happen to nice jedi."

those sounded like orders. don't do to well with orders. especially coming from someone or something unfamiliar. some say i just don't like following 'em on purpose, but what do they know, eh?

anywho to get back, i bet the subtitle will be something just as plain and as fitting as the others, falling right in line with sw tradition, as it should be, imo. no matter how new age the director would be leave that style of it alone. it's not an end of the world scenario but still.

you need to sort out your quote tags.
