strongest comic characters pound for pound

PC Superman is stronger than that version of Wonder Woman or Supergirl.

Throughout much, if not most, of the Silver Age (i.e. the 1960s) Kryptonians were accorded the same strength levels one to another.
You'll find an exception or two, but they generally did NOT take into account gender or even size differences.

It would have made perfect sense to a reader of that day, knowing the above, that Superman was unable to wrest Baby Buster from Bizarro Supergirl. She was every bit as strong as he was.
The simple fact is, though, in addition to being as strong as Superman, Bizarrogirl weighed less. So she was, by definition, stronger pound-for-pound.

Silver Age Superman was also reckoned to be as strong as mythical Hercules. In fact, there were at least 1 or 2 instances where he competed AGAINST the mythical Hercules.
He won against Hercules only because he had EXTRA abilities, like flight, speed, and invulnerability, and said so himself, but their strength was equal.
Wonder Woman, however, was stronger than Hercules. That's part of her strength classification, which the original poster asked us to base our decisions on.

😂
Here we go again.

Indeed. Although, I'll point out that PC Supes was all over the map. He had some comically low showings, then things like the galaxy sneeze. I think we'd have to give him the nod based on overall feats, compared to someone like PC Bizzaro Supergirl.

No.

Doesn't hold, DS.

PC Superman had more feats than those creatures from Giantia, too.

Does the fact that PC (Silver Age*) Superman has more strength feats prove he was stronger than they were?

Or do we in fact go by the ONE appearance of those things in comicdom and conclude, rightly, that THEY were, in fact, the stronger creatures, pound for pound or otherwise?

*(We should, at some point, make a distinction between Golden Age Superman, Silver Age Superman, and Bronze Age Superman, who are all lumped under the generic label "PC (preCrisisOnInfiniteEarths) Superman" without qualifiers. There were differences among these 3. We've not highlighted that fact to any significant degree in this thread.)

Super Goof of course

Mmm, comparing apples and oranges, however. The inhabitants of Gigantia at least had SOME reason for being stronger. BizarroGirl and Supergirl, not so much.

As characters are used more frequently, whether its by overuse or a writer trying to make them more interesting, you will get some lower showings. A good case in point is Rulk. When he first appeared, he was smacking people all around. Hulk,Thor, the Watcher, Grandmaster etc etc. Then afterwards, in the second showings, he didn't have as easy a time. And yes, the reason is because he lost a vital component of his powers, but that was done to make him a bit more interesting.

Superboy Prime is another. When he first appeared, he waded through everyone. Then in subsequent showings, the Titans beat him.

Oh, and as for this thread, I nominate Mxy.

Beyonder has good strength feats, bro.

I think Mighty Mouse has literally moved the universe with his strength. In terms of quantifiable feats, it's almost impossible to top that. We can talk about the potential of He-Man or Hulk all we want, but that takes the cake, and easily.

I agree, that's hard to top.

Best I can do is match that, and, if what you're speaking is true, would have to give it to Mighty Mouse on the size breakdown, 'cause he's the lightest of the two heroes I then know of performing that feat on page.

"Silver Age" Suprema takes this contest if he hasn't done that, though...

🙁 I wanna join the gang.

Might be interesting to have a thread like this divided into tiers.

A lot of people are very strong for their class and division, even people you wouldn't expect ...

I'm not sure where it's from, but I like that Gorilla "gif" a lot.
