It's not like Marvel does everything perfectly in line with the comics with it's villains. COUGH Mandarin COUGH

The way Doom is portrayed will be much more important in the end than minor things like how he got his name.

Marvel does the characters who ULTIMATELY matter their fair justice. Did you see what else they're changing? He's a damned internet blogger. It's not just a name change.

Oh I thought it said he's a computer programmer.. Was thinking that will lead into him programming Doombots and stuff.

Actually, the worst part is that the movie will probably be really good, it just won't be a fantastic four movie. It'll be a spit in the face to FF fans.

i hope you are right

You just know it's gunna be like some online viruses or some shit and they'll call them "Doombots". A "thoughtful" easter egg for the comic fans 🙄

YES! BEST NEWS OF THE DAY! BEST NEWS I'VE HEAR BOUT THIS MOVIE! LONG LIVE TERRIBLE DOOM! LONG LIVE TERRIBLE FF REBOOT!...I MEAN DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE!

This thing sounds like it's going to bomb and hard. And I'm hope it does. By 2020, Phase 4 could feature a new FF by Marvel Studios.

LOL! This is FOX's second chance to get things right and they still want to veer to the left. Even Golgo13 can't back this up. I don't know why Marvel gave FOX a choice on whether to give up Daredevil or Fantastic Four. It will be nice to see a dark superhero in Marvel's lineup for a change.

I feel a little dirty hoping this movie will be bad, but they are removing everything about Fantastic Four and still want to make a Fantastic Four movie. It's a slap in the face. Dr. Doom was a business man and now, he's a blogger/programmer?! What happened to the Renaissance ruler of Latveria who rivals Dr. Richards. They should've given the rights back if they didn't want to make a Fantastic Four movie.

codename: D00M

From someone who supposedly read the script....

Spoiler:
Reed is a genius convenience store clerk with Ben. Reed's parents don't care about him, and Ben's dad is abusive. They're good friends and have each other's backs. Reed writes a paper for community college on teleportation that attracts the attention of Dr. Franklin Storm, CEO of the Baxter Building research center.

Storm has a son, Johnny, and an adoptive daughter, Sue, whose father, Storm's old partner, died in an experiment gone wrong. Johnny and Sue are party kids, and Sue is particularly disdainful of science. Reed and Sue don't get along at first.

Victor Doomashev is a anti-social Eastern European computer programmer and hacktivist who calls himself "Doom". He hates the 1%, particularly Storm, whom he claims corrupts science for profit.

Storm uses Reed's paper to complete some equations on a machine to access another dimension, the N-Zone. Reed invites Ben to watch the machine being turned on. Sue and Johnny are also there. Doom manages to hack into the Baxter Building's servers and use a computer virus to damage the machine, which explodes. Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben are exposed to otherwordly energy and become mutants with powers that they can't control.

Storm takes them to the Baxter Building and creates containment suits for their powers. They begin to train. Reed and Storm also begin developing a way to revert the accident. Sue blames Reed for everything, but they eventually become friends and then a couple. Ben can switch off his powers when he's not in danger. Johnny changes colors based on heat intensity, and Sue has some borderline telekinetic thing. Reed is pretty much Reed.

Doom finds out that the four have acquired powers and becomes angry it's not him, so he comes up with a plan to break into the Baxter Building to access the N-Zone through the rebuild machine. As a distraction, he reprograms a bunch of stolen military drones, the "Doombots", to attack the building. The four come together as a team for the first time and save people.

Doom activates the machine and gets technopathy powers or something, basically energy blasts and making machines obey to him, and a fight ensues. The machine goes critical, and, in order to prevent it from exploding and destroying the city, the four push into it and Storm shuts it off.

There's a countdown before it reaches critical mass. Inside the N-Zone, the four battle Doom again, and manage to leave him trapped there after he disfigures himself soaking up too much power. The Four manage to escape, but Ben gets the blunt of it to protect Reed and can't switch back.

The machine is destroyed, Doom is gone, the four have learned to work as a team, and Reed vows to find a cure for Ben. And it ends there.

even if not true, this shit is funny as frack

I think I just threw up a little.

How long have they had the rights to FF and all related characters, and we've still never had a Silver Surfer movie..

If the rights go back to Marvel, then you know we'll get the Surfer and Galactus having a major role in something within the next few years.

Silver Surfer is kind of a boring guy... imo

I don't believe he could carry an entire movie.

The main character doesn't always have to be a Tony Stark/Peter Quill type for the movie to be enjoyable.

But SS and Galactus are just too damn epic to have sat on the fence like that. If they don't want to do anything with them, then at least let Marvel Studios use them. They would show Fox what a goldmine they were sat on this whole time.

I'm certain Marvel has a contingency plan for their out of house properties, and I bet they have at least a rough draft of Infinity War with Galactus and the Surfer just in case they get the rights back.

The current Surfer ongoing has injected the character with some much needed levity, personality and even humor. If they used these traits while keeping his serious edge when angry his movie could be a hit.

I personally think his Origin Story involving Galactus would be a guaranteed hit if done right.

And it would be done right under Marvel. Fox would probably just make a Big Cloud out of it.

MARVEL Blows Up FANTASTIC FOUR Cast In THE PUNISHER #12

This film may be in trouble.

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/35437/-fantastic-four-gets-major-reshoots

Anyone seen that thing from Matthew Vaughn (X-Men: First Class, Kick-Ass) trying to assure people the movie will be awesome.

^ Maybe it will be good. Who knows until we see some kind of trailer.

Even if it flops it would take another 5 years before it goes back to Marvel And probably about 10 years before Marvel uses the property.

We'll know soon enough anyway what the fate of FF is.

Matthew Vaughn wasn't assuring anyone of anything. All he could say was it's merely good, then he called Chronicle fantastic in the next breath, and ending it with an unsure "hopefully people like it." Mark Millar did something similar, calling Chronicle great and this steaming pile just good. The people at Fox can't even get excited for this, the best they can do is say it's not as good as Chronicle.
