Surfer only really ever was shown to have really low strength back in his early appearances. Since then it's been pretty consistent.

What's funny is that even with the Thing example the Surfer was shown to clearly overpower Grimm. So, he didn't amp to "Thing-level", he went beyond it.

In that old fight fight, when Surfer went "atomic strength" I'm pretty sure he amped far beyond Thing's strength.

Before the atomic amp, Surfer was knocked around by Thing. After Surfer amped himself, he was unphased by Thing's punch, and the Thing looked like he almost injured his hand punching Surfer. Thing shat his pants lol.

Surfer strength is way past normal colossus. Lets put colossus in surfer's position in planet hulk. He would get raped by that team.

Surfer recently held his own against Thor in hand to hand. Thing or Colossus would literally have their arms ripped off if they tried to stop a swing from Fraction's Thor, and the follow up head butt would incinerate their corpses.

Fraction's Surfer also tossed a fairly large space ship with such force that it would continue sailing through the Universe for centuries or some such.

I always thought it was pretty impressive when he grabbed the Rhino by the horn during a full stampede. SS is pretty strong physically when he wants to be.

Most of the time against Ben, he is. Would you like me to post a scan where surfer and human torch had to stop thing from attacking merged hulk and he just shrugged them off and got out of their hold? He is like namor, he would look like a peer/a step down against Thor/Herc and a peer against Thing. I'm guessing you are mistaking his feats of durability as feats of strength.

I wasn't saying he doesn't have strength above thing level, I said he hasn't amped his natural strength beyond Thing level. I think he's around namor/wonder man level in strength nowadays where he can slug it out with Thor and the likes pretty competitively in h2h but would get outpowered eventually. Mind you, Thing has overpowered surfer trying to restrain him from the same time-period where the most of your scans come from. Its not as cut and dry as you think it is. But obviously respect threads are always true, I tell you.

Surfer's durability was always more impressive than his strength. Thing doesn't harming surfer is a norm for his durability even back in the day. That doesn't denotes he increased his strength beyond Thing's when he says "Your strength is beyond my measure" or something like that.

Surfer is just that type of guy, he has strength above Thing most of the time but he wouldn't look good against Thing or even namor in strength department. Just look how he performed against worthy Attuma. What I'm saying is that he has natural strength beyond thing level most of the time but if he faces thing, he would look competitive against him too in strength and I haven't seen that surfer amping his strength beyond thing level. Why? That's because its his only showing of amping his strength and using that as a proof to show he can compete against the likes of colossonaut is as right as Thing oneshotting surfer from the same era.
