Shakespeare was just a writer. Alonso should have compared Thanos to some historical world dictator, to make his statement have the correct impact. Or, he should have said the origin of Thanos has Shakespearean echoes to it.

Yeah, that wording and the choice of a writer almost makes it sound like the story itself is bad.

And to be honest it didn't get off to a great start. I was hoping for something more interesting or epic.

I don't think much of Apocalypse as a character, but at least they managed to give him a decently interesting mini showing his origins in Egypt. But this felt like a let down somehow - the mighty Thanos starts as just some pathetic messed up nerd kid who who grew up with a ton of psychological problems that obviously still affect him as an adult. And he starts his career like some regular schmuck serial killer by torturing and killing some dumb animals.

And as an adult he is still basically running around in the kiddy play outfit he wore as a little boy. He's messed up.

I think maybe this is one of those times where the character should have been portrayed with a strong hint of innate evil from the beginning, then launched into something really bad as his first act of evil.

But I'll give it a chance to get better.

honestly, i wish we could go back to his first reappearance in ss and just....start his rebirth again. from his ludicrous upgrades, to the repetitive nature of his stories to now, this underwhelming origin story (which will likely be retconned eventually as so much thanos-related material is.....) marvel has really f'd up one of the truly great marvel villains imo. (even though he is still, and always will be, just a darkseid knock-off.... heh)

^ his origin was already covered in a few comics, baby pics and everything. they do however need to focus on the part you said about all the upgrades cause his bio always had stuff about mysticism and all that, plus he remade gamora's body on panel, but he made changes to his own body at some point, too (cybernetics were found in his bones). they can elaborate on him killing off most of the titan etarnals, as well as him dissecting his mother's womb for his father to find before all that destruction.

The fact that he's done all his supervillain exploits dressed in an oversized kid's outfit is actually the first genuinely scary thing I've ever heard about Thanos.

John Wayne Thanos.

"please...I don't want any trouble."

He should have said

"fight me irl, b1tch. ur dead"

Bates Motel Thanos

Thanos is just a poor misunderstood guy.

I thought Thanos was supposed to have been treated fairly by other members of his race, and the twisting of his mind was of his own suspicions & demons. I guess now they feel obligated to to have the cliched schoolyard bullying. 😬

And why is he already wearing the headpiece, as a kid?
