That is what happened in the scan, Thor was draining the life from The Presence. It wasn't like Surfer draining the Hulk of his gamma radiation.

I could find a scan of Hulk telling Surfer he's killing him by draining him. It doesn't automatically mean he was draining his soul. Good job bringing that up though.

IIRC he did drain and obviously didn't kill him. With the The Presence it is clear that the very life is being drained from him. What Thor was doing in that scan is akin to what Warlock does with the Soul Gem.

lol at versatility is enhanced. Thor was frozen in a powered up form. There's nothing he can do.
It also happens to be about 10 times faster than a drain, or soul drain as well.

Because he's an energy being. All the energy gets drained out of him, obviously his life is going to be at an all time high.
