Really I think the criteria are fine as they are, but if it becomes a big, recurrent problem, then as Blair said it would do well to reward those who are more punctual than others.
@ON: I've always had a rule when it comes to anything internet related: classwork/real-life stuff comes first, lol.

I'm going for the sympathy vote

Of course, but this is supposed to simulate a successful comic book release from the pitch right up to delivery.
... when BW wants to simulate my rent getting paid.

oh, for sure, I'm not saying that I should be above the rules, just saying there are conflicts that exist this month that probably wont again and I'm sorry for it 🙂
No, I'm judging instead of participating.
Apologies to anyone who was interested in my story. The truth, as I told Blair, is that I just didn't see it coming together, and I'm not one to force a story if it doesn't want to be told. That, and I can barely motivate myself to work on my "real" writing right now. I'm very particular about what I write, seeing as there's a part of me that's rabidly self-critical (it translates to forum posts, as I often edit three or four times per post, and often give up on debates because all I see are the flaws in my own arguments), and I wouldn't have felt right about serving up less than my best. I'm also kind of lazy if grades, money, fame, or self-respect aren't on the line.
Short answer: I clowned out, lol. But as always I hold others to higher standards. biscuits

That's wise, and only fair.
The pitch did sound good though.
Anyways, I'm working on the second issue right now, got some ideas I'm happy with, just need to see if it comes together. (there'll be another superhero cameo - OH NO, who will it be - I'll never tell)

Really, if this contest had happened a year ago, right after I'd finished reading the Sandman and Lucifer, I'd have written all six issues in a single week, lol.

Tell you what, if I ever do write a Sandman story like the story in my pitch, I'll send it to you.Really, if this contest had happened a year ago, right after I'd finished reading the Sandman and Lucifer, I'd have written all six issues in a single week, lol.
Excellent, though I can feel a subtext of "don't hold your breath" there...
I have a similar problem, it's been a while since I've read a lot of Hellblazer, so I'm winging/Elseworlding it pretty hard (for example, it's set pretty much in modern day, But John's in his 40s).
But just hearing you talk about it really makes me want to reread Sandman and Lucifer. They are soo good.
