Justice League (2018)

It's not called naivete, supes is just under the spell of someone he trusts and admires and respects. Which makes the betrayal all that more painful, when Luthor twists the knife in Supes back.

Also at this point the other "freaks" like flash, cyborg and martian manhunter are largely unknown and Supes would probably be all for currying favor with the government, LexCorp and the public by capturing these potentially dangerous individuals. Lex Luthor just has to feed Supes misinformation like flash is a menace to society and batman is a raging psychopath and Cyborg is a cyber terrorist. I mean Lex has been totally cool up until this point, why would Supes doubt him and not apprehend the dangerous individuals?

me either.

it's not just Superman being naive, it's Superman being dumb, irrational and illogical... things that Superman has never been and should never be. The crux of plot requires that Superman be a moron who isn't capable of thinking for himself.

Also, Superman wouldn't fall into depression or need to be told to help fix metropolis.

I'm pretty sure Snyder's Superman is in a permanent state of depression. Either way we didn't get the golden boy.

Why would Superman trust Lex in the first place? Why would Superman be trying to curry favour with a government that he so obviously told to back off in MoS?

Superman isn't the type to just do what he's told, whether the person is nice or not. That was part of the problem with BvS in the first place. He didn't talk nearly enough, which is a hallmark of the character. The only person that talks more during fights is Spider-Man.

It's not doing what he's told, it's forming an alliance with Lex Luthor. In BvS Lex tells Supes to go kill Batman but it just feels like a substantively meaningless threat. This way Lex convinces his ally Superman to go capture Batman and the rest of the vigilantes. That's much better than the BvS "I kidnapped your mom so do what I say" trope.

firefly is Max Landis' publicist.

or perhaps, Max Landis himself.

mhmm

reveal yourself, LANDIS!

I honestly don't agree that it's a good idea, but you do, so cool.

I agree with PR. I don't think that plot point fits Kal's portrayal from MOS, though in general I do think Max Landis could have come up with a better story than the Death of Superman/The Dark Knight Returns/Injustice/Flashpoint mashup we wound up getting.

On an semi-related note:

Why did they just repaint the Nightowl's costume from Watchmen completely black and dub it Batman's "tactical suit"? Is Snyder and WB really that lazy? It has the goggles and everything.

😂
Oh Warner do not worry Golgo and darth Thor will rant and rave about anything you do including the laughable mob boss Joker.

Low expectations for this.

I think most competent screenwriters could

Mehhhhhh

Looks descent. But it's hard to get pumped for this movie knowing Syder is still directing.

👆 Any excitement I get by seeing the image and how perfect jk simmons looks is immediately tempered by the fact that it's wasted by Zack Snyder

my expectations for this are very, very, very low

I feel stupid for having hope after I was burned by SS, but I'm optimistic.

They just keep on sucking you back in.

im not optimistic either.. even if the trailer is good , my expectations will still be low

For me a hell of a whole lot is going to be riding on the next trailer. If it's yet more "Look how cool, edgy and funny we are" bollocks, then it may end up being the first DCU movie I don't go see in theatres.

For me its Wonder Woman. If that movie sucks, i'm done with WB/DC. Everybody knows Justice League is going to be screwed up with Snyder at the helm. I have just about zero interest in it already.
