No. Staying in-line with the context of the story thus far, I believe The Empty Hand's identity would be far more metatextually complex then that.TEH controls The Gentry--they are his puppets/slaves. At a base level, The Gentry are essentially demonized ideas spawned by the negative components of the human condition. I believe TEH is a similar concept--a rogue thought/idea so powerful that it can transcend the story itself and even create/weaponize thought-forms, like The Gentry. That said, to deduce TEH's true identity would likely require you to deduce which negative aspect of self/thought/idea takes precedence over those embodied by The Gentry. Solve that, and you might have a shot at solving Morrison's puzzle. 😉
Nice. So is this why TEH has the same symbol on his forehead that Ultra had?
Originally posted by krisblazeThis issue would have been much better if there were additional issues to look forward to in the near future... But none are currently planned(Morrison said he would be taking a break from DC, ffs.) It's like he threw a grenade in the room, and drove away as fast as he could without even looking back.
Last issue was weird, phucking classic Morrison. It made me more hyped to read comics spawned from the other universes.
Sooo much more interesting than Earth 1.
Why do I feel like Morrison just introduced the Annihilators/Exiles and told us to stay tuned for when they fight the REAL bad guy.
Like you said: the other issues were much better.
So blah, blah, blah Gentry and other heroes coming now.
But I was more interesting in Captain Carrot! Anyone see how totally awesome he was in issue 2?
Spoiler:
Headless and yet was still kicking ass just as a body! Then being apart of a 50 man cosmic squad out of all the other heroes from across the Multiverse! Toon logic!
Also the Zoo Crew showed up too! I hope DC brings back CC & Zoo Crew, loved the old comic series and I wanna see them all together fighting the Gentry.
yeah, after the build up with the gentry, kinda sucked they were taken out so easily, then to add further insult, they aren't even unique anymore. weird. it did feel very rushed for some reason. the battle was completely anti-climactic. it does lead into some cool ideas, but....i feel cheated. the story was so complex, and multi-layered, but in the end a group of superheroes beat the sh!t out of the villains and won the day. just like in any comic. normally i have no problem with that--this time though i was def waiting for a bigger pay off. of course i want to know more about TEH. it would seem he is on such a level that it should take something pretty epic to take him out. curious to see just WHAT he is as well.....feels like all you had to do was read the book-end issues and you would not have missed too much. i mean the sos was worked in, but.... meh.

They should have called the book "Multidiversity" instead. Would have been a better fit. Also, I remember the times where tribute characters from other companies were treated with respect like Buried Alien in the Marvel universe, who got declared the fastest man alive (Barry Allen after he died in the fight against Anti-Monitor).
Nowdays the tribute characters speak broken english, have a giant head and wear diapers. The book was abysmal to say the least.
That book was terrible. But it wasn't a mainstream book. It wasn't even a "What IF?" It was a werid-ass book published outside of regular continuity. It wasn't a tribute. It was a bizarre, left-field-memoir.
