Hm, that could be but I still like to think that Alien is Ridley's baby and he is allowed to do basically whatever he wants (within reason). However I'm sure he was "highly encouraged" to bring back the xenomorphs in a big way, but other than that i wouldn't think they'd push him around much.

But like I said, I haven't read the spoiler.

But f#ck it, I might read it tomorrow..

Ah, fu#k... We only have a month and a half to wait, so I'll still try to refrain from any major spoilers at this point. 3 new TV spots released.. Supposed to have more alien footage...

Run, Pray, Hide...

YouTube video

Yeah...tv spots galore.

Well, I don't know what this is exactly, cause I can't get to it at work, but Alien Universe...?

http://www.alien-covenant.com/news/alien-universe-now-here-

It's about an Alien Event for fans.

Okay, so tell me this, anyone who has seen all the footage so far (trailers, TV spots, clips, etc)...

Has any footage shown a living, breathing Engineer yet? Or is it nothing but dead remains so far?

No hint of Engineers so far as the trailers go.
The dead remains look more human in sizing scale.

And if you read the spoiler (you posted) you'll probably get the same premise as I did reading it that the Prometheus angle is sadly no longer.
Covenant is strictly alien.

Hm.. well I know I've seen more giant head statues from set photos and whatnot. So I refuse to believe that they are abandoning the Engineers completely. I think I've read that there will be other, larger creatures in an even grander mythology. Otherwise how the hell would they come up with enough material to make 3-4 more sequels (like Ridley now wants to apparently)? I swear to Allah, if they keep introducing a new ship crew to get killed off in every subsequent movie it really will get old fast. It will be all too easily mocked, like the Star Wars franchise rehashing the deathstar.

Yeah well we also had Alien Queen carvings in Prometheus that kinda hinted they were left over set designs from a previous story angle Scott was working on...

Then again those giant head statues can relate to getting the Prometheus tale outta the way before focussing on Covenant.

Fuuuuuck, you keep tempting me to read this spoiler article...

I just might..

Okay, I caved and read it. I'm actually glad I did. It helps curb expectations a bit. So let's discuss...

The Latest ‘Alien: Covenant’ Spoiler Allows Ridley Scott To Essentially Wipe Out What He Built With ‘Prometheus’

Spoiler:
It kicks off with one major reveal: the spacecraft that Elizabeth and David boarded at the end of “Prometheus” did indeed make it to its destination. To greet their incoming guests, hundreds of Engineers are seen gathered in the docking area. David, who was nothing but a severed robot head by the end of “Prometheus,” is now fully operational in a complete body, and comes out to observe the crowd from a deck on the ship. It’s then that the ship unspools black bombs that cover the entire civilization in a black ooze that melts their bodies.

“The gods have rejected mankind as cruel, weak and full of greed,” David then says in a voiceover. “They are a dying species, grasping for resurrection. So they are leaving the earth forever.”

He continues, “But their power is an illusion. They don’t deserve to start again, and I’m not going to let them.”

I actually kind of like it and David's behavior seems to make sense, considering what he experience with the Engineers in Prometheus. The Engineers are extremely violent fu#kers (as Ridley has said), so David probably figured,

Spoiler:
"Better strike them before they strike me. They probably won't show much mercy to me considering I've hijacked one of their own ships." But we still don't know what he's done with Shaw!
That much I don't want to know yet. Look forward to finding out. I hope she's not dead.

But even if she is, apparently the next film will fill in the gaps between Prometheus and Covenant.

Fill in gaps... OMG, just give us a good story.

That was out the window a long time ago. lol

David and Walter I think are going to be the key aspects here, if the viral marketing is to be an indication. The comparing and contrasting of David and Walter is going to be interesting I think.

This little write-up I posted a few weeks ago about it is very interesting...

Spoiler:
In the Last comic with Elden, he was able to control the aliens when he injected himself with the black goo

What enabled him to control them when he became like the engineers?

Yeah but but...I can see Ridley succumbing to that cliched twist...

"You're not Walter...You're David!"

-Insert Hideous Death/Sabotage scene-

Yeah, that would be dumb. But I don't think so. They should be pretty easy to tell apart, different clothes, accent, demeanor.

this is cool

IMAX featurette...

http://www.alien-covenant.com/news/alien-covenant-imax-featurette-released

Honestly, though, I've been disappointed with IMAX screens in the past, especially when you can tell the film wasn't filmed in that ratio. And I don't think this will be. I find it distracting because it's obvious the whole image isn't there sometimes. So I'm just going to stick to the biggest screen I have, non-IMAX.
