It might even be possible to look this up, no? would there be public records of hiring of security? does the city hire security, or would it be the people who put on the marathon?

Well, DHS (Department of Homeland Secuity) is supposed to have a program going for radiation detection. They are so serious business about this radiation detection initiative that they even copied Marvel and named one of their programs SWORD (SWORDs). I would not be surprised to see any use of radiation detectors in large cities as there was an probably still is a "dirty bomb detection" initiative going on due to some threats or information regarding the use of dirty bombs against the US by terror groups.
No conspiracy to see here: the theorists quickly forget what happened yesterday to make shit seem "real" and "ZOMG!" in the present.

That is blatantly untrue- they directly accuse the media of a conspiracy of silence, which in turn is the foundation of nearly all extremist conspiracy thought. It;s precisely this sort of thing that is objectionable in mainstream discussions and hence is gated to the conspiracy area.
