Hero Edition: How does Marvel's Top 10 Heralds stack up against DC's?

Started by JakeTheBank5 pages

I always felt that while DC Earth was overtly more powerful than Marvel Earth, Marvel Earth was overtly possessed of greater minds.

The whole Kryptonian family are uber smart as was seen Pre DCnU, because Kryptonians are generally a smart race. Lobo is a underappreciated genius as is Barry Allen and Martian Manhunter.

Fair assessment.

Marvel likes it's tech like DC likes it's magic.

Myth, IMO. Both universes/earths possess great minds. I know Marvel have the two top dogs in Reed and Doom, but DC, IMO has a deeper catalog of super geniuses. For example Beatbok's made a clear post on why someone like Pre-Crisis Ultra Humanite is DC's Doctor Doom more than Lex Luthor ever will and has feats to back it up.

Barry Allen? He's smart, sure, but he's no Pym or Banner.

I never said he was. I was just comparing him to the heralds in my top 10 lists.

BTW, since he's not been posting, here is Beatbok's post of Ultra

In a prep war Ultra should take this.

With prep he has

Bested the All Star Squadron and Infinity Inc combined ( that's over 60 heroes with a lot more power than the Avengers). Eventually defeated only because two of the underlings he genetically altered to have super powers turned on him.

Taken on the JSA and Infinity Inc combined ( making them fight each other - defeated only because he considered the street levelers like huntress beneath his notice.

Defeated the JLA and JSA resulting in all heroes on Earth 2 being wiped from existence by his planned upsetting of the cosmic balance. Only defeated because of the unthinkable act of Earth 1 Cheetah saving her arch enemy Wonder Woman to get back at Ultra's betrayal.

Taken the power of the reality warping 5th dimension Djinn Thzz and taken over the world keeping Superman, and every major hero on the planet as his play things and puppets. Again only eventually loosing because another villain against all character changes sides

Add those and many more to the fact that he is a strong enough TPer to match and defeat Brain Wave Sr in psionic battle ( the same BW who in All Star Squadron 19 casually TP commands the entire JSA including Spectre and fate to do his wishes). Telepathically knock out several heroes while trapped in another dimension (Limbo) and tp communicate with himself across four decades.

WITH the physical power to man handle E-2 Superman, beat the crap out of Powergirl when enraged. As well as take the combined power of New Earth Superman, Martian Manhunter and Guy Gardner to take him on

He should take this quite easily. he can and has created minions who are more powerful than most of the Avengers

Not really a myth. They possess great minds on each Earth, true, but Marvel's geniuses, due to most of them being heroes, have the benefit of regular and consistent tech/science feats due to them appearing in their respective ongoing titles.

We're like two reboots, three if you count Infinite Crisis's subtle changes, since Pre-Crisis days. They hold even less weight now than they did ten years ago.

Some of Marvel's geniuses have more feats, but considering the high ends and averages, guys like the Chief (Who has been in multiple ongoings), Ray Palmer, Vril Dox, and even Will Magnus can even out most of Marvel's geniuses.

Martian Manhunter has been shown a genius in Stormwatch, seeing as hes been teaching Jenny Quantum. The Engineer as well.

Why do you think team Marvel is more versatile?

Put all them together and Doom missing part of his brain is still smarter.
