Not much. He still ended up shooting the dog and he still ended up trying to kill Fitz and Simmons.

He did neither of those.

He shot the dog with the rifle after he scared it away with the pistol. So that he wouldn't have to blow its face off in person. Just like he ejected Fitz and Simmons so he wouldn't have to personally kill them. He doesn't know they have a tracker or any way to get out of that box without drowning. To him, he just killed them.

Sad to see Garret dead, he was the best thing to come out of this shitty series, Paxton really was a scenery chewer everytime he showed up .

Garrett's anticlimactic defeat. I love Whedonian snark as much as the next guy, but they're really taking the wind out of the baddies' sails.

I thought it was pretty anticlimactic too. As well as the Ward resolution, which I thought needed more.

Have to agree with this. Having the heroes take the piss out of the villain to his face really wrecks the tension.
