Why? Witwer is way better.
No, I agree. Just that I would've thought they would carry him over from TCW to SWR. To keep some sort of continuity, I guess. Whatever.

Well Witwer sounds more like the actual Palpatine, so I think that works better for continuity.

Besides Curry only did the voice for a few episodes, TCW mainly used Ian Abercrombie but he unfortunately passed away just as Season 5 was being completed.

Witwer sounds nothing like Palpatine. Curry is better, he can portray Sidious' calmness in ROTJ or the bipolar craziness as seen in ROTS. Witwer tries too hard and it doesn't come as natural, IMO. I'm a bit disappointed to hear Curry won't be voicing him.

Abercrombie beats both. Really, he is almost as good as McDiarmid, and his portrayal as chancellor Palpatine was just superb. Ambercombie was Sidious/Palpatine. Can't say the same for Curry or Witwer, though Curry had his moments, most notably Yoda's vision.

R.I.P. Ian Abercrombie.

Huh? He imitates Ian McDiarmid almost perfectly.

Curry sounds very different. That's not to say he doesn't sound good in the role, just different doing it his own way. Ian Abercrombie owned the role but again he did so in his own distinct way.

I don't think so. I find it hard to take his Sidious voice seriously. He sounds exactly like someone trying too hard to imitate Sidious. None of them actually sound like Palpatine from the movies, but Curry sounds eviler and makes a better Sidious than Witwer. Sidious is depicted as having a bipolar-like personality; he goes from calm to insane/hysterical with laughter, and Curry brings that out quite well.

Abercrombie did nail it, and it's easy to visualize TCW Sidious when Sidious is mentioned due to Abercrombie's voice acting. He may not have sounded like Sidious from the movies, but like I said, he was Sidious/Palpatine.

Re-listening to Witwer's performance as Palpatine in TFU... I'm actually now in agreement with S66. He honestly does sound like he's trying too hard to sound like Palpatine, similar to how Tom Kane sounds when he's doing Yoda.

^ But that's how Sidious's voice is in both ROTJ and ROTS. He does exaggerate every word. That's why someone imitating the ROTJ/ROTS Sidious would "seem" like he's trying too hard, but that's actually how it is.

Witwer only did the evil Sith Palpatine voice. He never had the role of calm Chancellor Palpatine.

He just seems to overdo it to me.

True.

Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka) interview: http://nerdist.com/ashley-eckstein-discusses-star-wars-rebels-and-the-return-of-ahsoka-tano/

My favorite part:

N: In your personal opinion, do you think Ahsoka knows what happened to Anakin?

AE: You know I go back and forth on this, and only Dave Filoni knows. You know, I don’t know. I don’t know if she knows because I don’t know where she’s been the past several years. However, I do think that whenever it is that she finds out that he’s Darth Vader, I think she’ll be crushed because it’s still Anakin Skywalker to her. It’s family and it’s essentially her older brother. And during the Clone Wars I don’t think Ahsoka ever believed Anakin could fall to the dark side. I mean, she only saw Anakin as a hero. So I honestly don’t know if she knows, but whenever that happens I think she’ll be crushed. That’s just my opinion.

Vader sucks. Worst character in Star Wars by far.

Correction: Anakin is the worst character in SW by far. Vader rules!! 😎

Was Anakin as Vader even common knowledge?

Outside of close friends like Han being in on it, I can't see that being info they'd spread around..

Looks like your were right about Ahsoka being better trained than Rebels Kanan even as of TCW:

"Ahoska has a ton to offer, of course. She is, to be honest, far better-trained than Kanan. She is a better lightsaber fighter than Kanan. There’s no doubt. She had a better teacher than Kanan, who was more fight combat-oriented"

Also looks like Dave Filoni may be amongst the highest authority in canon when it comes to use of The Force:

"But whenever it’s something that involves the Force a great deal, I have to say that I’ve really appreciated that the StoryGroup at Lucasfilm and the other writers have really asked me a lot of questions and at times will defer to me as far as how these things go because I learned it all firsthand from George. And while I try to be very collaborative in all things that we do, especially in this new era of Star Wars, there are certain things where I just feel I have to be inflexible because they were rules that I learned from George about how to use the Force, how you should think about the Force, what the Force actually is that I am trying to carry forward into this new generation of creatives."

There goes the whole 'no Jedi' argument... Obviously the SW universe is still filled with them. ;-)

6 episodes into it and I just have no real interest in the characters or the plot. The Disney touch is too evident in the childishness of some of the interactions, and apart from that little bent Astromech none of the people really stick out to me. I honestly hope season 2 is better, I got more into the short The Old Republic trailers and rewatching them than Rebels.

It honestly does get better.

Hey, her sabers ARE white/silver. I wonder what that's meant to represent (if anything aside from stylistic).
