Data vs. Khan

Who wins?

Data vs. Khan

Data from Star Trek TNG vs Khan from Star Trek into Darkness.

Setting is the steel mill from Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Nobody else is present. Data's emotion chip is off.

1) Hand to Hand on the railing over the pit of molten steel.

2) Melee fight with Klingon Bat'leths at the entrance to the mill where the tanker of liquid nitrogen crashed.

3) Seek and destroy, armed with phasers set to kill. Both start at opposite ends of the steel mill.

To the death, anything goes.

Data.

More intelligent and physically superior. The other guy is just a superior martial artist. Not that it matters here.

lol.

give him his due, he did withstand kirk's punches and take out a platoon of klingons....although data could have done that unarmed 🙂

also dont forget to vote, people. quanchi needs a generous serving of crow.

Can't comment as I never watched the Star Trek series outside a few eps over the years.

that has not stopped you from being an expert on data's apparent shortcomings. 🙄

Seen the films not the series. I don't comment if I don't know or am not vaguely familiar.

So we just ignore all of his canon feats just because they don't appear in a movie? Even though the character is played by the same actor on the same live-action medium.

These rules have to change.

I edited the OP.

This is now Data from all of TNG films and not the television series.

I have to be fair to my own rule about television films only in the MVF.

Were I to allow TNG series, this would have to go in the All Versus Forum.

How would you change them? I'm open to ideas.

Data one-shots him, then goes to have tea with Picard.

i think in cases where the film is based on the series and all series canon is adhered to, it should be permissible. then again if you have to keep it a strict rule to act as a levy against a deluge of horseshit in other topics, its understandable.

Allow TV characters. Not that big of a deal. There's no logical reason why we should have to rely solely on 24: Redemption for Bauer feats or ignore all the Trek feats that don't appear in movies.

Movie only Data still wins

You don't think that would be better suited for the All Versus Forum?

Or are you referring to characters that have roles in both film and tv only?

I don't see how it's that big of a deal. I understand the purposes of the All Versus Forum so that debate can be held comparing characters across comic books, video games, or movies/television. But there isn't a sensible reason why we can't use TV characters here.

I mean what are your arguments against it? Pollution? This forum doesn't get that much traffic. It's not like they're hard to compare. They're animated shows and movies. Live action shows and movies.

Even if it were limited to characters with movie and tv appearances that'd be cool. Personally, I don't see why TV can't be added.

Well, I haven't any arguments, actually.

I just want opinions, is all. 🙂

The problem is that Star Trek is primarily TV based, and it's equally canon to the movies as the movies are to the tv shows. Sure, you could say "let's only use Data's feats from the movies", but the Data in First Contact is the same Data from the show. Hell, he even mentions that he boned Tasha Yar to the Borg Queen.

I get that Star Trek would have an unfair advantage due to the number of appearances, but at the same time a lot of the best Star Trek feats are from the shows. Either way, it's unfair to someone.

I'm starting to understand.

Really, I guess it wouldn't hurt.

Data wins but barely
