Thor in Avengers is always getting all sorts of ridiculous excuses and handicaps. There's no reason why Adamantium would prevent him from manipulating the energies inside of Ultron.

As it stands tho, it is a good stance to take up against Surfer manipulating Ultron's energies without cracking his armour 🙂

Surfers powers are much more akin to Galactus' than Thors. Surfer is basically a mini mini mini Galactus, the same cannot be said for Thor.

I don't see how being a much lesser Galactus permits him to do something that Galactus could but Mjolnir couldn't. Mjolnir easily rivals and could even be argued to surpass Silver Surfer's energy absorption abilities.

Thor is not Surfer. Eventhough I'd say Thor would do much better against Ultron if he had went the exotic route

Ultron has more than just energy blasters. He can mind control people, put them into comas with a single shot, has powers over the electromagnetic spectrum, force fields, and can repair from any damage that manages to worm it's way past his indestructible shell. Not to mention he's BRILLIANT!

Force fields could be depending on the signals Ultron is projecting. He's shown resistance to Wanda's magic, he can handle surfer trying to transmute him.
