If you didn't take away Superman's powers it's spite against Spock. If you do take away his powers it's spite against Kal-El.
If you were trying to prove an actual point like Spock is better in H2H you would put them in equal bodies.

And not's fair even if Kal-El reached a high degree f H2H ability he will still be so outclassed physically by Spock, who himself is an excellent fighter, it doesn't matter. So yes spite thread.
