Adderall is my favorite, but I've also done weed (I get accused of being a pothead all the time, and I don't know why considering I haven't smoked in a year or more), Xanax, soma, Percocet, ambien, and other things like that.
I never did the more serious stuff like coke or crack or meth, shit scares me.
Now, I only take Adderall every now and then, usually to work out. I never was addicted to anything.
Never really drank either, I think I've only been drunk like once.
Weed and Alcohol.
Small amounts of weed, never been high on weed, wonder what it would be like.
Being drunk is ****ing awesome. That's all there is to it, if I'm in a good mood before drinking, it becomes a better mood. My metabolism speeds up, of course as it metabolises the alcohol, and I feel a surge of excitement and energy. And whenever I'm in a bad mood I tend to try and become more optimistic, so when I get drunk that process is easier for me.
The next day, though, I'm pretty pissed.
Alcohol would be an addictive cooping mechanism, if I were to actually drink more than on minute occasion socially.
serious answer:
ok, just a list first I suppose:
Legal
- Cigarettes
- Alcohol
- Caffeine
- Assorted OTC painkillers (I used to take these with booze when I was younger)
- DXM in either cough syrup or anti-histamine meds
- T3s
- Morphine
- Methadone
- Kava Kava (before it was made illegal at least, haven't found it since 🙁 )
- Salvia
- Half dozen or so ethnobotanicals that I could no longer name from Africa or South America
- Amyl nitrate
Illegal
- Pot/Hash/Oil/Variety of other preparations of the plant
- Pure THC
- Ecstacy
- Pure MDMA
- Meth
- Amphetamines
- Cocaine
- Mushrooms
- LSD
- Ketamine
EDIT: I'm actually still pretty sure I'm missing some, but they would almost certainly be "one time" drugs, not something I'd have any familiarity with...
The only drugs that have ever been problematic are ketamine and alcohol, both to the point that I have learned I need to limit my access to them in extreme ways, or else I make a lot of bad personal and financial decisions. By comparison, I've smoked pot essentially daily for close to 12 years now, and while that might not seem "healthy", it doesn't come close to producing the same negative impacts on my life and is something I am able to consume while living an otherwise normal and happy life. Ketamine and especially alcohol are not like that.
I will point out, in my personal experience, and as it applies to me alone, it is ironic that the substance I have the worst outcomes with is also the most legal and ubiquitous in society. It is easier for me to be responsible with opiates than it is with alcohol.
