WB to announce Superman/Batman & JLA movies

He's not Caucasian, though. Which is what Aquaman is.

Even as "light" as he was in Stargate Atlantis, he was still a good deal darker than even bearded Aquaman.

Granted, that's not all I'm worried about as regards Momoa, but it's my biggest issue right now.

I hate the idea of changing something for the manstream audience when there is NO proof that it would have made any box office difference either way. And if there is, there are usually 2-3 bigger reasons the movie was successful anyway.

What change to Aquaman's character are people actually complaining about?

That he isn't an Aryan?

Primarily that they're changing his ethnicity, yes, but also (well me, personally), that Momoa won't be good at being the articulate, confident guy that Aquaman is supposed to be.

WB has lost it.

He looks white enough. This casting choice has been liked, overall, but I can see some people not liking it.

He doesn't really, imo. shrug

I think it's a bit premature to be saying whether it's liked or not, tbh. not until WB says something.

What I mean is that a lot of people are on board with this choice. It's not getting a lot of slack like Ben Affleck as Batman. I guess his fan base is growing, because of GOT.

He was barely in GOT, though. Him getting exposure because of that is kind of strange, tbh.

I'd be surprised if the majority was on board with it once it gets confirmed by WB.

Unless it's helped by the whole "Aquaman is lame" bollocks.

I've been reading on many boards with many posters saying things like, "finally Aquaman will be bad ass." And other similar things. So, I guess that's why they are in favor of it. 😄

Great, more people who don't know shit about Aquaman...

BREAKING NEWS

James Franco has been cast as Joker and Jack Black is now the Penguin. Both are set to appear in a star studded Batman v Superman movie, which already includes the aforementioned Batman and Superman, Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Cyborg, Catwoman, Aquaman, original Man of Steel cast and possibly Green Lantern. General Zod will reappear and Lois Lane will be black, for greater diversity.

DISGUSTING ..

Momoa's acting ability being a concern is a fair complaint, imo. I really don't see why his level of browness matters, though.

I've heard around that it has something to do with his backstory; he was banished from Atlantis at some point because he was too gloriously white (lol) or whatever, but is that really a necessary aspect of his character? It sounds like something that can easily be rewritten or would never have been touched upon in the films anyway.

Dont feel bad. John campea always refers aquaman being bad ass in the DCNU and injustice gods among us, but never refers back to PAD version. Or anybody before.

Where'd you hear that?

The closest one to yours would be the one where Aquaman's blonde hair is seen as a curse, as Atlantis' last blonde child almost destroyed their entire civilisation. They're that rare. It doesn't help that this last child was also able to communicate with marine life. Then the dude comes back and actually tries to wipe out Atlantis, and Aquaman has to fight him. It's a pretty bloody affair, and a lot less retarded than it sounds. That aspect of the origin has since been gotten rid of due to the reboot.

I just really don't like ****ing with a character's ethnicity when they've been established that long and that well. That, and I'm a huge Aquaman fan. I want to see the Aquaman I see in the comics adapted for screen the way they adapted Superman and Iron Man. It's not like there's anything wrong with the character in the first place either.

LOL!

WB/DC continues their streak of bad casting choices.

I have a question for gologo13 or anyone else as well.
Lets say afflek, j.eisengerg, gal gadot, momoa, (and whom ever else I forgot that was a "bad" casting), lets say they all do a good job portraying their characters.
would that justify their casting to you? Even if they dont look the part of how these characters traditionally look?

If the answer is "yes" then wouldn't it be even better to cast Actors that would do a good job portraying the characters AND also look the part better than what WB/DC have casted?

I think all the people complaining (me included) want BOTH. the look and also the role played well.

why is it so hard for you to get this? I know you are excited for this film, but do you at least get this point?
If you love DC(i know you do) wouldn't that make you a little upset that they might butcher the characters in any way? (the characters you love). I don't get how you can blindly accept EVERYTHING about this film.

Same thing for the new Fantastic four reboot. Horrible.

Inhuman is 100% correct
