It's actually going to do better because of its release date. Big blockbusters do have been bringing in the money, because they choose dates like March or April. There is hardly any competition for 8 weeks or so. Look at Furious 7. Will be the biggest blockbuster this year.

Well even TDKR wasn't exactly an exceptional film. But managed to hit a Billion based on the Batman movie brand going up since Batman Begins.
This having Batman and Superman should make a Billion as long as its a decent movie IMO. It will get its repeat viewings from hardcore Batman fans and hardcore Superman fans regardless.
If however it's actually a kick ass movie, then I reckon it will make something like 1.3-1.4 bill WW.
And even if this sucks I still think it will make at least $800mill WW.
So yeah A Lot depends on how good it is, but I have a hard time believing it won't make 800-900mill regardless of the Quality. So whatever the production cost this will be very profitable.

They've targeted the same 'space' that blockbusters have been targeting for quite a while...either the late March weekend or the early April weekend to have virtually a month to dominate before the big May film arrives.
It's been obvious from the start. Just as how Furious 7 was #1 for 4 straight weekends, WB is likely hoping that Batman v Superman is #1 for the 6 weekends before Civil War comes out.
I can see BVS being #1 for 3-4 weeks in a row.
Of course the only one of those movies to make a Billion is Furious 7. And that's a franchise that's been getting from big to huge to even bigger for the last 5 years. Then there was Paul Walker's passing away which added even more anticipation for that. So historically speaking that's not the best month to be making a Billion+
But yeah I agree it will help there being no competition for a few weeks.. except... ahem... My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 😉
