Way to take a shot at Marvel, "you losers your sequel made less than the Original. Went down from 1.55bill to 1.5bill."

Yes, that's too bad for marvel. Now they have to stop making movies.

😬

You were the one taking a dig at them for it 😬

What a ridiculous thing to say. What Superman movie to date has made what Age of Ultron has made ?

Batman was the first to get 1 billion back to back, without 3-d inflation or expanded markets. So, they've been a success. MOS also made more money than most of phase 1 Marvel films, with a lot of competition, which AOU didn't have.

Not to mention, but TDK is the king in attendance. Not even TA 1 could beat it in ticket sale numbers.

Dc closed off that successful batman. And avengers made a lot more money and just like the sequel it lost steam by the third one. Marvel was successful showing a combined cinematic universe is not only possible but mega successful. Dc is following the leader. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Marvel sucks butt

That's your opinion and I completely disagree but their success in the film industry cannot be denied. They are pioneers and dc seeks to emulate them.

X-men under fox has been great recently.

Cap 2 has been better

I still prefer First Class to any Marvel Studios movie or DC movie sans TDK trilogy.

DOFP was up there, too. Not sure where I place it in the hierarchy.

Last Wolverine movie was a huge improvement, which is why I'm eagerly waiting FF.

nice to see people continuing to act mature and aren't being petty... oh.

Why do you say the Nolan trilogy lost steam by the third movie? Each movie made more than the previous one.

Hey? You're telling me TDK beat TA1 in WW Attendance? I doubt that. It made over $500mill more. Inflation and 3d prices can't count for that much.

True say. FC and DOFP were both Ace.

Shame they still don't give a rats ass about Cyclops though.

It did. From the numbers I've been reading on those forums, TDK sold something like 76 M, while the Avengers sold 67 M. Then, I looked at BO Mojo and it showed Avengers selling more tickets, I asked and someone stated:

Mojo's ticket sales numbers for individual films are incorrect in the post-Avatar 3D era. They use yearly/quarterly average ticket price and apply it to all films (instead of looking at each film's exact 2D/3D splits), when it is only meant to work for the timeframe. From 2010 onwards, 2D-centric films will be slightly underestimated on that scale, while 3D-centric films are overestimated.

As for the adjusted numbers, TDK made $604,577,500 M domestic (without 3-D) and Avengers made $623,357,900. That's how much of a beast TDK was.

Even if it was close, that's quite an accomplishment for a film as dark and gritty as TDK was. That film's definitely not as kid friendly as Avengers.

I guess Ledger's death really did push the sales on that movie.

This is also a good thing to consider, Darth.

This is a bad post. SM1 played on 7,500 screens compared to probably 15,000 for TA2. It didn't have IMAX, 3D, or 13 years of inflation. I think admissions are the only real way to know just how much of a cultural zeitgeist occurred on each of these weekends.

Hollywood uses inflation and other gimmicks to keep bragging about new records in the domestic market and yet pretty much every other country in the world requires admissions to be reported.
