I can see him being a decent Bruce Wayne. But I don't think he has that ferocious spirit or the intimidation factor that Batman really needs to be effective when in costume.

Say what you want about Bale (the action sequences were not his fault) but at least he comes across as intimidating.

Can Affleck be intimidating? Not that I've seen. And he has played that sort of role before in Daredevil, so we have a good idea of how he's going to be.

He's not an unknown that we can't judge.

i don't recall a fuss being made over RDJ being cast as Tony. I remember the vast majority of people thinking it was almost too "on the nose" due to RDJ's past.

not the same thing as this. The vast majority hates this Affleck casting.

Yeah plus IM was largely an unknown superhero then. The risk could be taken. Batman is just too damn iconic, and the last thing it needs now is a repeat of Clooney, after a decade of great Batman films.

I really hope Affleck is the next Downey, in terms of what he does for Batman, but somehow I seriously doubt it.

His life is Tony Stark; I could see them not wanting him to be Sherlock.
