Let's stop with the conspiracy theory that the critics are just Marvel fans. Marvel films have earned their praise, with their careful and patient world building. Remember when Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy was acclaimed as the greatest example of what superhero/comics related films could be? The Dark Knight not getting nominated for Best Picture for 2008, despite being one of the most acclaimed films of the year (alongside PIXAR's WALL-E, also off the ballot) - that's what led the Academy to open up the Best Picture nominees from 5 to 10 the following year, so genre films could get more respect from the stuffy industry.
Dude don't be as sensitive as CPT when it comes to Marvel. I know you're better than that. I never implied anything about a conspiracy theory.
I said they've been "fortunate", because you can never really tell which way critics are going to go. A lot of popular movies like Avengers are Not liked by critics, but they did like Avengers. On the other hand I do rub my head when I see MOS has 53% on RT but IM3 has 79%.
But You're right that Marvel has earned their great reputation.

Man Of Steel got an A- rating from fans leaving theatres in 2013. It sounds like this film might be on track for a B to B- rating this time. More positive than the critical reviews perhaps, but not a good sign for the box office haul it needs. Prometheus and Mad Max: Fury Road only got B ratings from audiences (and the critics were much more positive towards them) and their worldwide box office haul was only in the $400 million range.
Difference is Batman V Superman could make $400mill WW in its opening weekend. So it's in a different league to those films, and will play by different rules.
If word of mouth for this is good, it'll help the box office. I've actually received positive word of mouth already for this.
It looks like the audience is ignoring the reviews. BVS FINAL tracking first choice numbers is at a whopping 38%!

Time will tell if it does Hunger Game or AOU numbers.

Despite the negative reviews I'm betting it'll be as good as AOU, which was overall entertaining but also had its issues.
Box office is anyone's guess, but I still say it's cracks that Billion mark without much difficulty.
