I know both companies are hesitant about spending huge money on a solo female vehicle (Marvel eventually backed out of a solo Black Widow film, years ago) but WW is the only female hero to have a title consistently published since the 1940's; she's the same vintage as Bruce and Clark, is part of the holy trinity of the Justice League, and should be the exception to the rule and have her own movie.

I will admit that Thor 1 was also a sh!tfest.

It was mediocre imo. But the fact is that people weren't turned off by all the Asgardian weirdness. The movie was criticised because people wanted MORE of that stuff!

So I don't see why Wonder Woman is going to be impossible to do right. The fantasy stuff isn't going to turn off audiences any more than it did in Thors 1 + 2 and Diana being a woman isn't a good reason either since female actions stars can be done very well. People loved Faora in MoS, people loved Hitgirl, or the Bride, or Black Widow etc etc.

A WW movie may well be shit but not because a WW flick will only ever be shit. If it fails, it fails on its own lack of merit, not Wondies.

uh, yeah, completely agree with Nep. The first "Thor" sucked because of Portman and her lame ass friends, not because of the mythology in the movie.

Wonder Woman would be no more absurd than MoS, Thor, Avatar, Watchmen, etc., and those were all successful movies.

She needs to be like Black mamba. Strong and ruthless, not some sex symbol we get with most action/female leads.

Yes, I agree Thor was a let-down however everybody tends to forget how mediocre Captain America was too.

I think the 1st WW movie will be heavily criticised then the saving grace will be its sequel (& probably change of director as well).

the vast majority of female action heroes i can think of in recent (and even not so recent) years have all been closer to Kiddo than the girl from Alias.

A lot of them may have been sexy, but they were no less ruthless/brutal because of it.

I think DC & Warners have learned their lesson, borrowing talent from Marvel films. It's constantly backfired.

Bryan Singer (X-Men) directing Superman Returns? - A very expensive 'meh.'

Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) playing Green Lantern? - COLOSSAL FLOP. (Now he's just looking for that Deadpool solo movie...)

Which is why it may work with Ben Affleck as Batman - Daredevil sucked, so he'll be just right for Batman vs. Superman. 😄
