I'm not finding where it has had the fourth biggest world wide opening?

The other records are pretty cool though. I'm more interested in seeing how it fairs next weekends with such mixed reviews.

BvS having a big weekend opening was already known.
Has nothing to do of the movie is liked or not.
These coming weeks will tell if it has any legs.

Only about 20% of tickets are sold through pre sales. Most of the tickets are walkups.

No, I think this was way before any of the trailers came out. It doesn't matter. Do you think JL part one will do more or LESS?

It will do MORE

World wide Openings are subjective, because not every film opens everywhere at once like this did. So domestic opening is a better indicator for which this is the 6th largest opening. Still it will at least double its OW and that's worst case scenario. So WB will be relieved at the numbers.

Nah the pre-sales were only around 20-25 million.

But you're right OW is usually about hype. But the argument could be made that if WOM was that bad then Sunday sales would have gone down drastically.

2nd weekend will be the real test though.

Heroic hollywood did an article on it, Newjak.

So this beat Avengers and AOU?

Saturdays drop was a good indicator. It was the first time in WB history that a movie scored 50 million plus. Sunday will have a harsher drop, because of Easter weekend.

Next weekend will be interesting, but I think this will heavily be front loaded .

So 170 domestic, not bad, but both Avengers had higher.

Yeah but Avengers and Iron Man3 didn't open world wide at the same time. So can't compare. Best measurement is domestic opening where this ranks 6th biggest movie and 4th biggest superhero movie.

Trying to make sense of some of the other things with the movie that didn't add up...

Maybe this film's Lois secretly worked with Doomsday, and was getting ****ed by his hidden bone-extending dick behind the scenes. I mean, she makes herself start drowning during the fight to keep Superman distracted and give her new love Doomsday an advantage, and she then makes Clark swim after the kryptonite spear in the water, knowing it would hurt him. After the end of the battle, she was really crying for Doomsday, not Superman, and didn't reveal it to conceal her guilt.

So after seeing it this afternoon, with lowered expectation...

It wasn't terrible. Not every subplot paid off, but the rumour about the editing being a mess wasn't true.

I'd give it a mild thumbs up, but it is kind of joyless. And Snyder directs like a man at war with himself, veering between the restrained style he used for Man Of Steel and suddenly swinging back into full on 300-style excess. And when he is excessive, he's VERY excessive, drawing out the scenes beyond reason. Overdid it with the dream sequences too.

Besides all the visual & verbal refeneces to The Dark Knights Returns, the first cameo of the Flash seems like a callback to his vision of him from issue #1 of Crisis On Infinite Earths.

Huge opening weekend is no surprise. What kind of legs it has beyond this weekeend is the question, if there truly is mixed word of mouth.

Areas like Malaysia, Brazil, Phillipines, etc... had the biggest OW ever.
