Been reading a book called My Work is Not Yet Done by Thomas Ligotti.
The main character, Frank Dominio, becomes pretty powerful after contact with a cosmic horror, power that I will describe shortly. Spoilers inbound for anyone who cares, and you really should, because Ligotti is a cool young man.
- In a resting state, he is completely incorporeal, unable to be touched or seen. He can fly, and has to focus his form into a tangible form to be physical.
- His sense of perception is significantly superhuman. He can perceive multiple events happening in different places in a single city at once, and seems to be able to be present at all of those events if he chooses to (So sort of a form of teleportation), and can affect them (More on this later). His range is at least city level, but might be higher. He managed to look up multiple criminal records of one guy, including records of other aliases and ones that don't apply to his current person due to a change in identity, etc.
- He has some level of heightened celerity and strength in his new form, even while physical. He cleared the distance of a room before a woman could pull a gun from her coat, and then took the same gun from said coat while pinning her. The narrative made it clear that he was careful not to do this too hard, which, for a man described of average build (And the woman was former military), implies his strength has been enhanced to an extent.
- He has subatomic control over matter. He could burn out the circuits of his computer modem with a thought, and was able to take the lenses of a man's sunglasses and meld them with the man's veins, intestines, and inside his heart to kill him, without leaving a scratch outside his body. He also severed the man's hands with a hunting knife he had on his person when he was altered, and could "weld" the plastic hands of a mannequin to the stumps.
- He can warp reality. He creates a tiny (About a foot tall) door with ugly faces on it and shit that, when a woman poked it out of curiosity, she found her finger stuck. It slowly pulled her inside bodily. When someone else went into her office, Frank had tampered with the lights mentally, making them flicker on and off every few seconds, and left the office in a state of dishevelment (Basically he made it look like an epic struggle took place). The man looked around it, before finding a hand mirror. He picks it up and looks at it, and we see what happened to this woman. Namely that Frank pulled her into some pocket dimension viewable from the mirror, and mutated her likeness into some thing that vaguely looked like her. The man tried to escape, opening the door, but there was just another door on the other side. He frantically tried to open enough doors to escape, but Frank confirms that they are limitless, and that he is now in the "Darkness" that Frank fell into when he received his powers. He also, upon opening a safe for someone who thought he was robbing an old woman (Explained in next session), has a veritable sea of boiling soup poor from the safe, which is so hot it literally liquidates him in a span of moments. Frank is unharmed, so there may be a degree of superhuman durability in his host bodies as well.
The woman who below was sent into a mannequin museum was then turned into a sort of mannequin, albeit a very detailed one with human parts (Like a vagina for example). Eventually, two drunks came by her at night, stole her clothes, and in a fit of Frank-inspired madness, began fornicating with her. Her eyes actually reacted to this with shock, meaning that she could feel and see everything that was going on. When they realized this they promptly freaked the **** out and tore it to pieces, beating and stomping it, to discover that it still had anatomically correct organs, albeit ones also made of plastic.
He also has a woman sit down on top of a kneeling man (Whom he has rendered immobile), and the man's body begins to pull her inside of him. The man by the way was a middle-aged fat cannibal, and Frank basically forced her to meld with him, to live on inside of him, seeing what he sees, eating what he eats, etc. Forced to live out her life inside of another but incapable of any muscular control of the body she inhabits. Frank also confirms that, since she is so much younger than this man, she, the "parasite", will live on in his corpse for some time after he dies.
He also made a dog speak once. Yeah, that happened.
- He can possess others. He has possessed both a human being and a cockroach. He retains most of his powers in this form. He seems to retain all save his incorporeality, in fact. He also has access to all memories and inner workings of the person possessed.
- He can telepathically influence others. To one man, he renders a very ordered, intelligent, and analytical man, into a dull, dim simpleton who smells ****ing bad. He has this man drive his fat ass over to the state fair, and walk into the crowd. He has him get naked, and try to **** a pig. He then literally turns him into a pig (Tying into the matter manipulation and reality warping), and has him try to couple with a cow, only to be shipped to a slaughterhouse. He telepathically controlled another as well, a woman. She was walking to go get lunch at her favorite place, but instead walked right past it, forced to do so and not even aware of it, and has her walk into some weird as **** doll and mannequin museum.
Not sure where Domino (As he refers to himself once he becomes a spooky guy) would fit, since his powers are relatively lacking in scale, but are so broken that he could punch far above his weight class.
