Before or after Vader's injuries?

Yes, Qui Gon would win in any duel between him and Vader. Keep in mind he would be even older than he was in TPM, so if Vader is not too badly injured he might do what Darth Maul did, in my opinion.

Oh, well, if it has to be Qui-Gon 20 years later... ummm... well, if he keeps in training he would still be damn good, like Dooku. If he has retired he would have lost it a but by then, like Obi-Wan.

Yes that's the trick of the question isn't it? Are we talking about an older Qui Gon or a Qui Gon as he was in the first episode? I am not too clear on that. Nevertheless it is a fascinating thought.

Yes so there remains a chance that either could win. My money is on Qui-Gon Jinn, however.
