Preacher (AMC)

It's not the best adaptation ever, but it could have been much worse. I'm stoked for season two.

Well, the 2nd episode was even better than the first. So this show is really shaping up to be pretty great. So it's been renewed for a 2nd season, has it?

I'd really like to find the soundtrack for it. The show uses music extremely well.

I was unhappy with the overall pace of the first season -- it was just painfully slow. The finale was horrible, imo. Only reason I'll watch season 2 is to see SoK in action.

Maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't read the comic series. srug

Season one was definitely slow, but I'm gonna stick with it to see what happens with The Saint, Jody, and Grandma.

Well as someone who hasn't read the comic (and has only seen the first 2 episodes so far, heh) I really, really like the pace so far. It's slow, but it's the precise direction and dark humor that make up for it. It has just enough quirkiness and pop culture to give the show personality and engage the audience. And the characters are all flawed and interesting. Love it so far. I actually think the slow pace helps absorb you, because it feel like world building. Too many movies are chopped up way too much and it's disorienting and distracting. This is the way it's supposed to be done!

Yeah, knowing the comics would definitely hinder the enjoyment, though. Too many expectations then.

Same here.

You've seen 2 episodes, you have no idea how slow the pace is yet.

You also won't have to wait a week between episodes.

Hello!?? That's why I wait. I can't stand waiting from week to week. 🙂 💃

The future of television needs to be like Netflix. Release the whole season at once so people can binge.

So I finished watching this. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Although the effects on the last episode when Preacher revealed what he promised were a little awful, I'm hoping intentionally so, haha...

I agree that the show is slow, but I think that's just the pace of it. The 3rd and 4th episodes (I think it was) were a little slow, probably more so because you're not really sure what's going on yet, so I actually look forward to watching the show again before Season 2. I love it. I love the slower pace. To me the show is sort of a dark humor soap opera with some action and violence and major irreverence.. haha. To me it's a lot less drawn out than a lot of shows because it's only 10 episodes.

I like that the actors all really embody their characters. You don't see actors, you don't even feel like you're watching actors. It feels like a show full of great character actors. Jackie Earle Haley is especially good. I first learned of him as Rorschach from Watchmen. Man he is freakin great in this.

So has this been confirmed for a second season?

Season 2 is a definite go.

I actually like waiting week to week for good shows. That way you can digest, think about, and discuss each episode. That's something you can't really do when all the episodes release at once.

Same.

Although I like to binge 2-3 episodes in 1 go. Shows like Walking Dead get well frustrating 1 episode at a time.

I'm out of town for work and staying in a motel, so I rewatched Preacher a second time. I still think this is a good series, but I'm still disappointed by some of the radical re-writes from the source material. That said, I'm pumped for season 2. I want to see Lin Shaye as Grandma. She's f*cking perfect.

I'm trying to imagine who would make a good Jody and T.C., as well. I would say Stephen Ogg (Trevor from GTA V) as Jody, but he seems too small built.

I dunno, that end scene really bugged me.. Jesse's not relatable in the least.. Frankly, Carrie (Stephen King) is more sympethetic then Jesse Custer.

Hell, Michael Corleone is more sympathetic! At least use of his power as a godfather seriously weighed on him, and was measured.

And it's also a major plot hole. If he has no moral restraints against abusing his power, then what stopped him from forcing the meat guy to back off with another command? Moments of conflict like that will stick out, because he has no self imposed restraints to fall back on as an excuse, like Superman's code against killing. It just comes off as bad writing then.

New images from upcoming season 2!! It seems a certain bad ass scene from the comics is going to most certainly happen!

Nice!
