I wouldn't consider Maul>bane in dueling, as Bane has strength edge (extremely important for Djem So), extremely fast, being able to match speed with Maul most likely, can overwhelm a master of Soresu (Zannah) in dueling, was beating Kas'im till he whipped out jar'kai (note: kas'im is one of the greatest technical swordmasters in all of star wars), etc.

Maul's got greater feats. Bane's got a slight strength advantage, Maul's got a slight speed advantage.

Beating Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn is better than winning against Zannah and beating Kas'im.

You mean padawan Obi Wan and old, out of his prime, most likely tired qui-gonn jinn?

No, I mean Kenobi late-CW and one of the most skilled Jedi ever produced by the order Qui-Gon Jinn.

Oh yeah, the emotionally off-balance Obi Wan, and again, the older, tired, out of his prime Qui Gonn. He was one of the best ever produced in his prime, but at this point he's what, 60? And he was most likely tired in his fight.

Yeah, and same goes for Maul (and I can refer to their fight in Revival, where they stalemate for a minute while Maul was holding himself back [''I never wanted to kill you''], and again, prove Qui-Gon was past his prime.

First of all, Jinn, while a master of ataru, was still victim to the forms weaknesses, most notably a lack of defense/spending of energy. Both of these came into play against Darth Maul, as he was in close quarters, which severely hindered Jinn's form, forcing him onto the defensive, adding in Ataru's lack of defense, plus being fatigued from duel leading up to this, plus his large physical disadvantage, lead to Jinn's ultimate demise.

Edit: Maul was using Dun Moch in the tag battle of ventress and obi wan vs. maul and opress. This knocked Obi-wan's emotions completely off-balance, making him take a much more aggressive demeanor, leading to his defeat.

You've just made up a bunch of crap. Never is it stated that the environment favored Maul or hindered Jinn or vice-versa.

Maul was just better, that's a fact.

And nice to see you ignoring Maul beating/stalemating Obi-Wan.

Wait, so close quarters doesn't hinder ataru? 😬

edit: didn't ignore it, lol

If it was an important factor in the duel, it'd been mentioned.

And I don't think close quarters were helping Maul's saberstaff either.

You're adding your own reasons onto established canon.

Still doesn't remedy the fact that Qui Gonn was most likely tired from previous duel, plus the large physical advantage Maul had.

What previous duel? The one on Tatooine? And Maul had a speed advantage, not a strength advantage.

Its impossible to rank duelists.

Some of the finest (in no specific order) are:-

- Sidious
- Luke
- HoT

- Satele
- Zallow
- Kun
- Ulic
- Jacen/Caedus

- Nyriss (possibly)
- Marr (possibly)
- Second Emperor's Wrath (possibly)

well we're trying to rank duelists in most canonically sound order, so that's why i'm trying to come up with list.

2. Caedus
