I liked the movie but they need to do something new with the story
it always involve John Connor, Sarah or even some sort of time travel. As a 'first impressions' video i watch they pointed out especially in that future world where they're having a war with the machines, Surely there's something else going on that doesn't involve John Connor.

To be fair, they already tried something very different with Salvation, but there was just no real point to that movie. I personally think Time Travel is kind of accepted as part of the whole Terminator lore that they can't do without.
If they want to go different though, try T-800's that are not Arny. Blasphemous I know! But Arny has seemed forced into every Terminator sequel post T2 IMO.
I liked the route Sarah Conner Chronicles went. Where the good Terminator was a female one, and there were multiple T-800 types sent to different times in the past with different missions. With a Rebel T-1000 as well, and obviously no Arny in sight.

I know. Like I said problem was it was a pointless movie. But it probably scared the studio into avoiding time travel.
But I thought SCC was pretty different, but obviously still involved plenty of Time Travel and the Conners.

Looks like we won't be getting another Terminator anytime soon. TG isn't performing all that well. Now, it's JW and IO topping it on Thursday.

They were T-888s not T-800s.
just got back from seeing this.. I have enjoyed the Terminator movies, T2 is an all time fave... while Rise of the Machines and Salvation need to be forgotten.. this film here is a decent film . It is not above T2 in any way, however it is clearly above T3 and T4... Arnold was his usual Terminator self.. Jai Courtney seemed like he wanted to speak in his natural voice... Jason Clarke played a good bad guy yet he should have been much more. Emilia Clarke whom I like a lot thanks to Game of Thrones played Sarah with a lot of spunk and pizazz.. As for the post credit scene, well that was predicable but i still sat in my seat to see it...
