She was injured and wasn't near 100%...she never regained that power back since it was never stated on panel and Superman never connected with his punch.

carver, if Thanos has a CC and it is momentarily taken away from him and then he gets injured from a beat down. While getting injured he regains the cc. Is his injury from a beat down going to limit the power of the cc at his disposal? Once the connection was established she had the power of the artifact at her disposal and would be a full power of the artifact.
the statements in the comic, even says that superman had the power to kill her with the artifact. There was no statement of, if superman strikes her while she is disconnected hr will kill her.
as far as batman was concerned, he made the statement knowing the black had the artifact. I didn't read this comic but from what abhi is saying is that black was shown a possible future of superman connecting with full use of the artifact and superman kills her.
that's enough evidence to believe that superman could have done what batman and the artifact believed.
