Prime fought Monarch with an amp, that was the strongest Prime on panel. It was that Superman Prime, not Superboy Prime that breach the armor.
The lomger the fight went on, the weaker Prime was getting because he was losing said amp, if it wasn't for his kamikaze attack, he had a high chance of losing.

Prime had been running off the amp prior to that fight unning around searching for his Earth. Attacks like that are commonplace for Prime and are fair game. With a fresh Guardian amp I see Prime doing something like this long before the amp runs out. He may try to bust it like he was going to do OA or like he did the AM.
