There's also the whole underdeveloped mind thing. 14, 15, 16, and 17 is still very much growing.Oh, I'm more then aware of how relationships work between adults. We seem to be having two different conversations here.
I'm saying child labor laws exist for a reason. We don't throw pre-pube kids into operating heavy machinery, military service, or jobs with grueling hours, for example. Even if they're more then capable of performing the work.
That's because we want to make every effort to allow kids to develop into well adjusted adults. In good time, they'll hit adult hood, and take their blows with the rest of us, but we want to give them a chance to survive the experience. If they get horribly mangled and scarred by 14, that's not good for them, and it's not good for society. They're that much more likely to experience ptsd and all kinds of crippling problems by 20, let alone the middle age crisis most adults deal with.
I'm making an argument for why she's dangerous. And why it's important to try and keep kids from becoming dangerous predators once they hit adult hood.
But...people with lower IQs appear to go into physically dangerous work risking mangling. Based on your logic, we should disbar anyone, not just the young, who doesn't meet a certain level of intelligence and personality, from working dangerous jobs.
Also, I think in this case, the 17 year was the aggressor and pursuer. Not the divorcing dance instructor. XYZ is most likely correct, here: this lady wasn't a predator. It's only the puritanical laws in Utah that are the problem.
It would be very easy to see if there were any predatory behaviors going on, here. Have qualified people conduct forensic interviews. 😐
If none, it is two sexually mature humans doing their thing.

But when or how is the best way to determine when someone is Actually Mature? Should the U.S just greatly lower the age of consent? Early Teens or Older? 12 Maybe?
Glad you asked!
For years, I have proposed a licensing test for this. 🙂
This means many adults, due to their emotional immaturity, won't be licensed. This also opens up the door for younger people, too.
But what amuses me about this i a large chunk of people wouldn't be disbarred from any kind of relationship. aahahahaha
