Charged, not found guilty. If innocent, her face and name have been revealed and her career and reputation ruined regardless.

I love the legal system. It's this awesome toy you can play with and hurt other people with. No negative consequences or poorly thought out decisions made in the name of "justice", no siree.

That's the court of public opinion.

It's pretty telling when a hollywood guy essentially says about Jussie Smolett: "Who cares if he did it or not? The important thing, is he's losing in the court of public opinion!"

Laws and legal proceedings are decided by whoever claps the hardest, screams the loudest, and chants the most uniformly. It's really the only way to determine truth.

I do think it's overkill for this kind of crime, when the female gets more years in prison than some do for murder or manslaughter.

Yeah I don't quite see how sexual abuse is punished more severely than killing someone. Almost like society as a whole has a huge hangup about sex that it's never had with murder.

And what does have to do with the price of tea, or anything about this thread? Botox, smoking, drugs...that's something one inflicts on oneself. You victimize only you.

When Riverdale premiered a couple of years ago, this kind of situation was right in the center of Archie Andrews life, and just like virtually every pop culture look at this kind of relationship, Archie didn't see himself as a victim and actively pursued his older teacher.

If you're over the age of 20, then sleeping with anyone under the age of 17 is weird, imo. The brain develops a lot around that point, and there's an imbalance of power between a 16-year-old and a someone of 20+.

The woman in question here is burning in Hell for what she did, regardless of how it ended up.

Everyone does that everywhere. Even the prudiest areas of the US have Romeo and Juliet laws that account for up to a three year difference (So essentially from a senior at high school dating a freshman in high school, but not a senior dating a middle schooler.)

I knew a girl in high school who was dating way older guys all the time. She was something of a legend for supposedly dating a 40 year old.

Of course now that sounds creepy as hell, but we just never thought about it like that back then.
