I'll start, I went to Ohayocon in Columbus, Ohio over the weekend. I was impressed by how nice and accepting all the cosplayers were. I went in thinking my costume was going to be below average as I bought 80% of it from the thrift shop; however, I got many compliments on it and didn’t feel mine looked bad once I got there. I’d have to say the thing that shocked me the most was how unjudging everyone was.
As for the convention in general they had a lot of different panels going on as well as group photo shoots, venders, special guests such as Rikki Simons (voice of Gir) and Richard Horvitz (voice of Invader Zim), and rooms with video game stations, arcade games, and card games such as Magic. Overall it was a good experience, but they could have done better with organization and scheduling.
My biggest advice to anyone going to their first con would be, get a hotel room. It was a giant hassle lugging around bags, makeup, jackets, etc. Luckily we met up with a friend who had a hotel, but for a few hours it was miserable.
Here are some photos from Ohayocon.
