That is good to hear.

I was also worried about him especially after watching him in the new riddick movie.

It wasn't that he was bad in it he just didn't seem to really to bring anything exciting to the role he played.

He's a mediocre actor at best, but the writers/director knew what his acting abilities were, and really made him shine.

I dont know, his performance seemed pretty wooden to me, but eventually it took root. I can see him branching off into other similar roles.

Movie was funny as hell, I just wonder why hiring vin dissel to repeat the same line over and over.

I think that role could have been fulfilled by anyone that can talk

But that's the thing, he was written to be wooden.

They gave him the role as the straight man.

They wanted him to be Drax, but he didn't have time.

He wanted to still be a part of the movie, and they did too, so they comprimised with Groot.

Ironman 3 was the only phase 2 movie I didn't like. It still made crazy money though.
Thor 2 was good except for the Darcy and pals parts

Oh...So you were excluding IM3 them?

Well this is pretty awkward, Marvel just got away with a movie revolving around perhaps the most unknown comic book group in Marvel's archives while DC is having trouble with getting the trinity in the general public's eye.

DC isn't having any trouble with the Trinity. Batman v Superman is perhaps the most talked about movie since Avengers.

Hopefully the awesomeness of Guardians will encourage DC to take more risks though.

Yeah and it only took them this long to make that attempt. While I'm aware of the buzz it has cause since Comic-con, we still don't have any else to go on.

I do as well.

yeah. But I think that BVS will make a ton of money just because the popularity of supes and batman more than the quality of the movie. but we will see.
I Do want them to make good movies, but some of the things they do are cringe worthy.

this was posted on another forum . thought it was funny.

"DC trying to cram everything into one movie to compete with 10+ solid films that created a cinematic universe"
" Marvel had Patience, hard work, respect for the source material and a general sense of enthusiasm for what they were making."
"Seems like DC just cares about get-rich-quick schemes."

Sad but true

Marvel has build a universe so good that they can afford to bring obscure characters like the Guardians of the Galaxy with extremely good results

While DC is sitting on top of franchise like Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and JLA, Joker, Darkseid, New Gods which are names way better known worldwide than Ant-Man or Guardians of the Galaxy and DC does not know what to do with those franchises.

Marvel/Disney executives are doing a great job honestly 👆

As much as I hated Man of Steel, I'm excited for Batman v Superman.

I think you're right though, DC could do a much better job.

The way they are building up the Infinity Gauntlet saga is amazing, I can't wait to see that movie

Yeah, Marvel is handling business right now. Very fun movie.

question..

Do you guys think DC should take a darker tone with their cinematic universe?? Maybe aim for a more adult audience. Go for an R rated approach...

IMO Nope, if any they should be lighter.

People go to the movies to get entertained.

Hopefully Batman's dark humor can shine

I feel Marvel/Disney has that approach cornered. With their lineups and strategic release...it's going to be a huge mountain to climb for WB/DC so why not take a chance and go a different direction, u know?

I dont think its fair to categorize Marvel into being "comedies" because they are light hearted and have jokes in their movies.
This is how their source material is. Even the real dark comic books like Punisher have some one liners and the occasional joke.
So far Marvel movies have had various types of genres in their films.
Comedy, action, adventure, spy thriller, fugitive type (incredible hulk), romance, tragedy, etc. pretty soon they will even tap into the supernatural/horror with dr. strange.
And most of the time they mix and match these genres.

DC/WB on the other hand seem to be going for that grim/dark thing for their all their movies. Thats fine but they are doing this the wrong way IMO. You cant make every Hero batman. Every hero so far in their "new" cinematic universe is dark, brooding and troubled. Superman (opposite of what he has always been), batman of coarse, arrow is like this as well, and im betting whomever they introduce will be a grim/dark version of their comic book self.
There is no diversity.

And Fantasy with Thor lol.

I feel Marvel has discovered a formula that actually works. If DC try to match wits, they will not win. If they are obsessed with dark and gritty...just go all the way and make that ish Rated R. That may not be a solution but at least they will develop a niche or an identity.

Oh and don't forget about the grit...lots and lots of grit. Thought I still think critics overhyped Guardians of the Galaxy even though it was awesome: this is probably just because IM3 was so well received by critics when it was perhaps the worst movie Marvel put out in their cinematic universe.

Looks like all is well with Marvel now that they have completely submitted to their Disney overlords.

That's groupthink and a circlejerk. You can spin anything to make it seem that one side is "better."

Marvel needed to make a bunch of mediocre solo advertising films to hype up a movie so big it can't fail. DC only needed Batman to make a successful trilogy, two of which posted Avengers type numbers and hype.

Spin is spin, no matter how many shitty images and memes you make.
