Now that GOTG has opened in all markets, it has finally surpassed MOS's worldwide box office.

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=marvel2014a.htm

Currently at 687mill WW. Will have to wait and see if it surpasses $700mill and if it can pass Captain America 2 to become Marvel's 3 biggest movie to date.

👆

^ It actually has surpassed Cap2 as well.

It's now surpassed X-Men DOFP WW total to become the biggest superhero movie of the year. (Unless you count Transformers as superheroes).

I have seen it and it is very good..!!

saw GOTG when it came out in the cinema, honestly thought that seth macfarlane had given into his sci fi fetish and produced the film because of the underlying humour slant to it.

Now that you mention it, I can sorta see the resemblance. It is a little Macfarlaney. Never thought of it before.

I saw zero McFarlanes in GoTG.

Glenn Howerton was nearly cast as Starlord

I would have so been down for that

Plan to watch this again soon...

Danceoff

The dance off is fantastic.

I love this movie. Easily my favorite Marvel film so far.

i did not love this movie the way everyone else seems to.

My experience was sorta ruined by the assholes who brought their kids to an 11pm showing, so maybe I'll like it more when i watch again.

Finally got around to watching it on dvd.

Good fun, feel good movie.

Drax was funny but didn't really show any outstanding in the brute strength dept.
Nebula was under-used. Must've annoyed Gillan to shave her hair off for a minor role.
And why couldn't Thanos go after the orb himself instead of relying on Ronan?

Thanos is just sending his lackey's out to find it for him. He doesn't want to waste time to do grunt work. At this point Thanos knows where the items are he can go retrieve it himself.

Fair enough.
But then again Ronan didn't actually hand it over, did he?

Why trust lackeys to retrieve such a dangerous & powerful weapon...that can be used against him?

I'm just saying I know very little about Thanos & I really wasn't awestruck by his presence sitting in a floating chair.

It's not trust. Thanos is just a cunning being with a huge ego, so he isn't worried about losing it to them. The character is smarter than most of the MCU; he's willing to gamble on the loss of the gems temporarily.

Sweet. Cheers for the explanation.

So does Thanos ever cross over to the Avengers or does he stay in the GOTG timeline?

Well Thanos big story is the "Infinity Gauntlet" crossover. Those "infinity stones" they are collecting in the movie all have a different type of power. When harnessed all at once, the bearer becomes unstoppable. Thanos wears them on a golden gauntlet.

The crossover was pretty wild and had various Avengers, X-Men, The Fantastic Four, and others teaming up to take down Thanos. And even THEY got squashed. It was pretty exciting stuff
