Nah, the Speedster villain is usually the big bad of the season, but they throw in other characters for the "villain of the week" type deal. Last two episodes before this one was a two-part story where the Flash and his team had to deal with an invasion by Grodd and his army of psychic super gorillas.
It was awesome.
Even if a trial by combat really should have gone like this:
"I CHALLENGE YOU, GRODD!"
*Gorilla mob* "Wait, didn't he lose to red worm? Shouldn't he be the one challenging our leader?"
"Why is Grodd in charge anyways?"
"Well, we can't follow a human."
"Yeah, but Grodd just moved here last week. And he couldn't even beat our deposed leader."
"WHY ARE WE EVEN ATTACKING THE HUMANS? I wanna go home."

It still doesn't quite track with the actual fights. Like when he fought Jay Garrick Flash, it didn't seem like it was just hopping from point to point (like when he was dragging Barry across the city). He legit seemed to just be moving a lot more quickly. But it's not like I have a big gripe about it in anyways. It kind of makes sense that there shouldn't be too much of a gap, considering future Flash defeats him and, based on what Savitar said, actually chose to spare his life. It's just a bit jarring that the main villain isn't massively faster than Barry is up until some plot change right at the end of the season. 😆
I feel the same, now suddenly Barry landed way more hits than he ever did before. Savitar seemed no more threatening than previous speedsters.
I am wondering if Savitar is somehow a future version of Wally? Driven insane after being trapped in the speedforce, he blames Barry for not saving him and later twists it into thinking Barry himself imprisoned him. He says he gave himself his powers, which he technically did if he is Wally, since he manipulated events to make sure Alchemy gave Wally powers.

^^ It crossed my mind too, and I think it was supposed to cross our minds in this episode. It's probably a red herring, tbh. These shows live off of "gotcha" moments nowadays, and telegraphing it so obviously at this point seems an odd narrative decision.
They also have really poor writers, I mean Prometheus' reveal in Arrow was pretty obvious too but that didn't stop the talentless hacks from delivering it. Personally I hope it's not Wally, as again, that would indicate poor writing skills. Then again, he's not white, ginger or gay so who really gives a shit about this Wally West?
Though it did seem like Barry just kinda stood there and let Wally get sucked into the speedforce. He didn't even seem to try to grab Wally to prevent him from being sucked into it.
Also it's kinda dickish for Wally to reveal the reason Barry asked Iris to marry him. I get it was wrong, but if the intent was to try to save her life..well, by Wally telling Iris and it making her reconsider he has just helped set the events leading to her death into motion.
Also nobody has really tried to figure out what the hell HR was doing on the roof during the death scene of Iris. He wasn't there the first time, is it possible he was there to make sure Barry was unable to save her?

But he's actually a great singer with his own albums out... And one song of Captain Jack Harkness to the Doctor..
You just know John Barrowman demanded to be included in this episode. Lol.
