Batman: Arkham Knight

It was mentioned in the beginning of this thread that this would be RockSteady's last game, but you can expect some other studio to probably milk the Arkham cow, yeah. (WB Montreal or someone)

I wouldn't mind if there was an Arkham take on Batman Beyond, but Dark Knight Returns could work also... Would kinda make sense with Superman too I guess, given all the easter egg mentions he was given in this game.

Not sure how you got that impression, but they clearly need a break from Batman after this. Maybe do some of the things they were rumored to do after City, or do some game or series for another DC superhero, etc. Batman's not the only thing their talent could do justice for.

Batman Beyond would be the best for a sequel IMHO.

You could improve Predator encounters by having the batsuit chameleon to walls if you don't move and use suprestrength to bust through loose walls. And add in rocket boots for fast travel as well as wall climbing. Bring back a few old villains, bring in Terry's rogues, have the Joker be the baddy because I guess he has to be and you have a game.

I mean it's not like you could do Superman in the Arkham formula, Superman can't just unlock heat vision halfway through the game and the concept of mooks is lolsy. Most of the other DC heroes couldn't fit it either. Like, maybe Green Arrow? So you'd really need to shake up the formula for the other DC heroes or use a different IP.

First of all I love you Batman Beyond Ideas! As for the other heroes...I have had this conversation with my friends multiple times. The one thing we all agree on is it would be fairly simple for Rocksteady to attach the Arkham Batman to other heroes. Make a Superman game and acknowledge the events of the Arkham games. The formula would need to be different for sure but that works because they are different kinds of heroes and they could really show that contrast with different formulas.

They could do a game with Post-Convergence Superman. vin

I get that, but they could've done it in a way that didn't make the batmobile feel like it was overstaying its welcome. Having to fight Jobberstroke or Deathjoke in it (whose "boss fight" was no different than the Cloudburst tank) was just insult to injury.

Yep.. The main downside of it is you don't have a way of playing as Robin, Nightwing, Azrael, Harley, and company outside the few minutes the game allows you to be them... But the AR challenges do offer more variety in gameplay than the challenge maps ever did, to their credit.

Old news now, but yep... Seems any game under WB's wing now is just pushing to see how much they can get away with far as a season pass price. I thought MKX's season pass being $30 was pushing it at first, but this game takes it to another level. May as well be paying for two games. lol

I guess it's a you either love it or you hate it element then?
They jobbed out Slade? That blows.

Isn't Azrael basically a re-skinned Batman , i.e. his combat style is exactly the same as Batman's? Also, I read somewhere (might have been a rumour) that they're gonna make those guys playable in challenge maps from the DLC.
Cool. I'll look at AR challenges on youtube to see the variety.

Yeah, I haven't really kept up with Arkham Knight.
Lulz. $100/$110 for the entire experience? Yeah, probably just best to wait for a Game of the Year edition.

Batgirl DLC will be about 45 minutes in length

That's almost a dollar per minute. Perfect pricing!

👆 Pretty much what I was thinking too.

I guess...
Yeah, a huge step down from how they used him in Origins even.

Oh, that's true, but it made sense for Azrael given the story and nature of said side quest. Oh yes, there is that... Meh. Such maps should've been in the game from the get-go though.

Yep...

Well based on the trophies, seems there could be some side quests to it too and such (like the Mr Freeze story DLC from Origins), so when they say 45 minutes, hopefully they just mean the main story part of it, with some things for you to do in it afterward.

Either way, get the feeling I won't like it as much as Origins' Cold, Cold Heart... The best Arkham DLC.

I wonder what battle mode will look like with that skin......

'89 Batman skin is raddddddddddd

Hope the additional character skins for Catwoman and the Robins are indicative of challenge maps for them

Didn't see an additional skin for Catwoman (yet anyway), but for Robin and Nightwing. I'd rather have some story DLC for them though where you actually get to explore around in the city as them over just doing more challenge maps and calling it a day.

That '89 batmobile skin... It's awesome but should've had that in the game from the start. 😠 Guess the question now is how much will I end up using the batmobile again since I already finished new game +? 😬 That's what I should've had on my NG+ playthrough, dammit.

So just finished A Matter of Family. It was... meh. Underwhelming, average at best. Barbara's hacking was kinda fun, but basically the only thing that set her apart from Batman ability-wise. I liked the two on two fight at the end between the Batgirl and Robin tag team and Harley & the Joker, but pretty much everything else was just defuse bombs and rescue hostages here and there... Nothing you haven't already done before. The secret trophy/achievement for doing all the park mini-games was interesting though along with how it told the story behind the theme park's creation.

But yeah.

How long did it take you?

45 minutes to an hour-ish I guess, far as doing the story. Maybe had an hour or so more if including the time I was gliding around aimlessly to search for the remaining Joker teeth, balloons, and jack in the boxes, along with those mentioned mini-games.

Thanks. How big is the area?

The whole map/theme park of the DLC is one big... square, so to speak. Is all mostly outside, but it is I guess a closed off location from the rest of Gotham, so you don't really explore the city or anything, but the area does make okay use of Batgirl's gliding, for what it's worth.

Pretty much on par with the Harley's Revenge DLC of Arkham City in that sense, and as a whole.

That's encouraging.

Nope. 😛
Spoiler:
It ends with Joker running away, leaving Harley behind as a distraction and escaping on a parachute.

.. Yup.
