I don't know if it's an actual medical thing, or if it's just something the internet came up with. In any case, there are entire Youtube channels devoted to it. Relaxing as all hell, though.

I knew about the phenomenon for years, but never knew it had a name (or an internet following) until about an hour ago. It can be great to relax and enjoy, though.

Here's one of the better channels I've found for it, which admittedly is all of about 15 minutes of browsing various links:

If you're really worried, just browse a few comments. If there's even a slightly louder noise, sometimes people will point it out.

And, troll humor or not, many people suffer from sleep deprivation and use ASMR as a tool. Further, many are listening with headphones on, and a sudden loud noise could be damaging to their hearing. I'm ok with getting a laugh by trolling in quite a few instances, but certainly not here. Consider what you're doing, and how it could legitimately harm people, before making such a video.

Well...Digi is saying that people trying to seek out therapy due to stress/anxiety or sleep issues probably don't want to be pranked in the manner you're suggesting.

Of all the types of videos you could do the scream-scare prank on someone, those are probably the worst choices possible. It would make you a massive c*nt.

HOWEVER...that also makes them the absolute best choices because that's their intended purpose: scare the utter-living f*cking shit out of someone that is definitely definitely not in the right state of mind to expect it. The contrast would be the perfect setting.

I don't have mental issues so if I ran across one of your proposed videos, I would laugh. And I would say, "You got me, b*tch. Well done."

People seeking therapy for anxiety, stress or sleep issue should probably be looking for better help than YouTube can give.
