In Cosmic Odyssey, Dr. Fate linked himself, Darkseid, Etrigan the Demon, Highfather and Darkseid to power a spell that destroyed a reality as a "buffer" to keep the Anti-Life Entity from crossing over into the main DCU.
Most simply, this would indicate that Orion's power would have contributed 1/5 to the spell, and that the spell simply released enough energy to destroy the universe.
Of course, Darkseid and Highfather were probably more powerful than Orion (though, in potential, Orion should have been equal to them I think).
But this wasn't really done with the Astro Force. Just Orion's connection to the Source, which could be interpreted in many ways.
Orion DID counteract universe-destroying forces with the Astro Force, though, in JKFW, and the Astro Force was the only energy in the universe capable of doing so.
