Yes actually, considering a significant portion of the game will be spent staring at people's faces during dialogue, which is meant to be a big feature of Bioware games in general. You picked two low budget indie games and legitimately tried to compare it to a massive triple A title with a considerably bigger budget.
I don't play either of those games, but those games don't have the money thrown at them to have good character models. Bioware games do, and yet the models have gotten truly hideous. Not being able to make a character that doesn't look like dog shit was a flaw with Inquisition and it will be a flaw with this game, and the character creation in general has historically been bad, and seems to be getting worse.
You're right, because 95% of games aren't as big budget as Bioware games.
I'm just saying it's interesting that people are gravitating towards it while other games (including big budget titles) get a pass. Personally, I always felt Uncharted 4 character faces to be strange. I know I'm in the minority but I much prefer the previous generation when it came to that. I think it's due to it becoming closer and closer to uncanny valley and it's throwing people off.
About the facial expression while fem-Ryder is disarming that guy, Bioware said that at the time they showed that bit in the trailer they were still working on facial expressions during animations and that it would look better in the final game. We'll see soon enough.
I do think it's strange how Bioware seems to have such trouble with character models, I dunno if it's just that they still aren't used to doing facial tech in the Frostbite engine, or if it's intentional as far as not making characters look too attractive, I'm guessing the former.
Either way, only about a month left, I'm pretty excited.
The faces are just... I'm sure that they'll be better animated by launch, but ever since DAI I've had this weird feeling that they go out of their way to make the women more average looking. I even did a quick google. If you look at the guy they got for male ryder, he's a model, and the character looks like a model.
FemRyder looks nothing like hers. Cora isn't very attractive either. DAI did a similar thing, where the most attractive looking woman was the dwarf that couldn't be romanced, and she was cute at best.
I get that part of it is personal preference, but there's a disparity there imo.
Bioware heard fan feadback and updated the character kits for the two main characters. They look slightly better. Still not amazing, but improved.
I think the face they went for FemRyder is just kind of naturally goofy-looking in their engine. Probably because her mouth is big and the hair doesn't do her justice. She doesn't look heroic at all, more like some freaking coffee shop waitress. The model is beautiful, the character looks stupid.
I doubt many will keep the default face. Its not that big of a deal I guess, it just means I won't use the "canon" look.
Originally posted by NephthysIDK, I actually really liked MaleSheps default face. I was looking forward to some similarly iconic looking

It's alright though. I'll just replicate Shepard and role play as his clone/lost brother or something lol

Originally posted by Nemesis XI'd have been fine with it, but the Ryders seem to have a family aspect they're playing which wouldn't be possible with Shepard or his clone. I kind of like the idea of the other playable sibling and the father being in the game. It adds some real connections.
Now that Arachnid mentions it, wonder how it would roll with some if Bioware saved Shepard's clone for Andromeda instead of ME3.
That said, I never got to play the Citadel DLC so I'm slightly mind blown that Shepards already been cloned. My comment was more of a joke/play on that typical trope lol

Can't believe this game is now less than a month away. Feels like I've been waiting for this game forever. I absolutely can't wait.
Lol we are long overdue for some Mass Effect.
Apparently you can choose the gender for Commander Shepard according to this article: http://www.cinemablend.com/games/1628490/one-way-your-old-mass-effect-game-can-still-influence-Andromeda
So, if true, we're getting another Mass Effect Genesis for Andromeda.
