So it's pretty much official now, GoT will end at Season 7, long before the books end: http://mashable.com/2015/01/30/game-of-thrones-george-r-r-martin/
The book series will never be finished, so that's a given.

They would need to stop for several years if they don't want to get ahead of GRRM...
George writes when he pleases.

I heard he tried selling them on pausing to do a prequel series of Robert's Rebellion while he finishes the books.

It would be cool, but we know what happens to all the characters already and it would reveal Jon Snows entire hidden background, though we all already know that well enough.

I would prefer a prequel with original characters and an original story TBH. Something to keep us guessing. I wouldn't mind a "The Long Night" centered couple of seasons. You get to love a ton of new characters, you witness the first White Walkers invasion, you witness the extinction of the Children, and all your newly loved characters die or barely scrape by. It would up the "Oh shit..." factor for when the WW come to Westeros in future seasons.

Similarly, they could do the first Targaryen invasion (back when they came for Valyria and took over) to reinvigorate everyones dying hype for Dany's invasion.

Or something along those lines that could keep us guessing.

Oh, im fine with that. Just pointing out that waiting for him isn't really feasible at this time.

That would be quite silly as all the actors would be several years older for the next season. Plus then GRRM would be busy writing that storyline rather than the books.

If they did a prequel series than the Dance of the Dragons would be my pick.

GRRM has said that not only will the show end before the books, but that some characters will die/not die differently between the book and show as well

is that the shy maid?

if they cast a septa lemore, that could easily fulfull much of hbo's gratuitous nudity quota.

If GRRM finishes the books, don't the showrunners for GoT have to consult him on advancing the story? Or is will the books no longer be beholden to the show. Because if the show goes in a certain direction, GRRM might be pressured to write in that direction also...

Definitely some major deviations from the books by the looks of the new trailer. Jaimie and Bronn fighting together in Dorne? Where will that leave Brienne's story?

Seems like they're definitely going with the faith militant and it looks like they're getting one over on Lords Tyrell. Rumour is some major deviations at Hardhome as well. Jon is certainly looking up in awe at something.

Actually glad they're expanding Bronn's role, he's a solid character in the series and shelving him into obscurity like he was in the books would be a waste.

Phuck Brienne's story.

So it seems Belwas was partially incorporated into Daario's background, being an ex champion slave pit-fighter.

Did find Daario's lack of scars during the nude scene funny.

hmmm i didn't notice...then again i was not closely studying dario's naked body as you apparently were.

Your fault, not mine.
