Game of Thrones FOR PEOPLE WHO'VE READ THE BOOKS

It's even funnier because you're serious.

Brienne could barely beat a feverish Sandor Clegane while she was wielding a Valyrian steel sword. Similarly, you of course know she only beat Jaime when he was shackled and weakened from his stint as a prisoner. Seems Brienne only fights people who matter (Loras doesn't matter) when they're not in top form. I wonder why that is? 🙂

Going by books alone, Brienne was overpowered and nearly killed by a fat unarmed cannibal. Victarion mauls her with contemptuous ease.

Well then tell me who's better currently? Gregor and Oberyn are dead, Jaime has no hand and she's beaten Sandor and Loras, not to mention demolishing a few of Renly's Rainbow Guard. I didn't count Jaime for a reason though, yeah her fight with him doesn't count. She'd own him currently however. At the moment I'd say her only competition are the Essos guys, Bronn and Jon. And Jon kind of sucks.

Biter attacked her from behind after she'd killed Fake Hound. Not really relevant. Anyone can get overpowered by someone attacking them from behind right after a fight and who vastly outweighs them. Also I said she's the best in the show, not the books. Barristan probably has that atm. That said even in the books she's better than the featless Victarion. Brienne only fights people who matter with a handicap? Victarion hasn't fought anyone who matters, so she still trumps him.

i'm sorry, but was there ever a fair fight in the show?

even oberyn was cheating with the poisoned spears.

Sam vs the White Walker. estahuh

since you brought that up, the white walkers had TWO opportunities to insta-kill lady piggy and instead chose to spare him and walk on by. after the second time sam cheap-shot stabbed him in the back. sure he was saving gilly and her baby, but in no way was that a 'fight' let alone a fair one.

This was the best bit of the trailer and the only plotline of any interest for me.

I've mixed feelings how this is going to come off in the show as the supernatural aspects have been hit and miss so far.

Milsandre birthing Stannis-Death-Shadow came off well, White Walkers so far are decent, skeleton army and The Children was utter shit though, Three-eyed crow was just an old man sitting in roots.

The house of the undying was not bad either but not as vivid as the books.

I don't think they've much cause to change it too much with maybe the exception of Arya speaking to the man with the rotted away face. I think we'll eventually find out that guy is the same person as Jaqen. At least I think that's how they'll play it in the show as they have a tendency to combine certain plot aspects to minimise characters such as Bronn training with Jaimie instead of Ilyn Payne.

Oh, so instead of just "the show" you meant "people currently alive in the show"?

I suppose that she might indeed be the best fighter in the show since everyone who was better than her is dead or crippled, and Barristan still remains untested. Bronn might stack up well to her, but I doubt it.

Is that really much of an accomplishment, though? Or relevant, for that matter, considering Victarion doesn't exist in the show?

The reason I am not and was never counting the show is because the show alters the fighting prowess of a lot of characters. Brienne benefited from being made more formidable in the show (and also a worse character). Others who got this treatment were Eddard Stark, Ramsay Snow, Ygritte, and Stannis Baratheon. Others were made weaker. Jaime is probably the biggest example, but others are Tyrion, Theon, and Renly.

Dude, she had a hard time fighting an untrained pedo thug and was nearly killed by a fat cannibal.

Her situational wins against anyone who matters can't take away these poor showings Nepthys. 🙁

LoLz at the Brienne > Sandor mentality. The man was injured/sick and he had Brienne backing up for 90% or the fight and she only really overpowered him when it went to H2H.

you're still mad that she beat his ass? jeez get over it.

Only slightly

To be fair, that Viking from 1,000 years ago didn't have the benefit of steroids, all his power came from rape and pillaging

are we sure he's on steroids? he doesnt really look roidy.

Not sure

So let me amend "benefit of steroids" with "benefit of modern equipment, training, nutrition and possibly steroids"

So it's pretty much official now, GoT will end at Season 7, long before the books end: http://mashable.com/2015/01/30/game-of-thrones-george-r-r-martin/

They need to stop for a year then. Some of the stories have effectively already caught up with the books. Bran for one

They would need to stop for several years if they don't want to get ahead of GRRM...
