The Predator (2018)

So you're trying to compare the Strause bro's with Shane Black?

no competition there, Black is leagues better then those two.

This is true.....but the "reboot" nonsense....I don't need this.

This movie isn't a reboot.

But the title of the Thread says it IS!?

WHO CAN I TRUST ANY MORE!?

But yeah...still not liking the Suburbs bit...

Looking forward to this. Hopefully, its better than the last film which was good but Black as a writer can do much better.

Ignore it.....besides i'm not a mod i can't change it

But yeah...still not liking the Suburbs bit...

I'm hoping Shane Black can make it work better then the Strause bro's

also if its anything like his other movies it'll be set around Christmas.

I would like to hold out hope but Hollywood has pretty much stomped that ability out of me.

And to be honest. I am HOPING this movie will be great but the "it takes place in Suburbia" just makes me flash back to the ShitFest that was AVP2....

Yeah, this has me concerned, too.

That's actually what I liked about Predators was that it brought it back to the jungle and gave it more of a feel of the original.

Should do one set in Russia

one of the comic series had it set there.

One of the novelizations did too, i believe.
It might have been Alaska.

I know there were a couple of them that were adapted into a comic book.

Alaska, Russia... same thing.

😆

The books were pretty fun, but its been years since i read them.
The second one's the one you made me recall.

Concrete Jungle (1995) Edit
During a blistering heat wave in New York, police begin to discover evidence of a sadistic killer. Detective Shaefer, the brother of Arnold Schwarzenegger's character 'Dutch' from the first Predator film, quickly learns it is the extraterrestrial hunters, drawn by the heat and the prey.

Cold War (1997) Edit
When a Predator spacecraft crashlands in the isolated Northern tundra of Siberia, Detective Shaefer is called upon to aid the US military in capturing the technology. Unfortunately, the Russian forces have their eyes on the craft as well.

Big Game (1999) Edit
U.S. Army Corporal Enoch Nakai must rediscover his Navajo roots in a fight to the death with an alien Predator.

Forever Midnight (2006) Edit
Parts of the story are told from the viewpoint of the Predators. In particular the author John Shirley had to expand the Predator language and created his own name and culture for the Predator race, the "Hish."

Flesh and Blood (2007) Edit
Andar Ciejek, son of the patriarch to one of the wealthiest (human) families, was a simple man trying to create a life separate from the greed tainting his family. But, when the patriarch dies, Andar is brought back into the fold for the reading of his father's will, but another family member has led the ruthless and blood-thirsty Predators to the planet where the will-reading is taking place in the hopes that they would kill every last living Ciejek and leave him to be the sole heir, but he may have gotten more than he bargained for.

Turnabout (2008) Edit
Alaska is lovely in the spring: the plants start to come back, the snow begins to melt, the bears start to come of hibernation... it's all a bugle call to poachers across the world hoping to sack the biggest game they can find. And the Predators are no different.

South China Sea (2008) Edit
A prize hunt has been arranged on a Southeast Asia island. When the compound is attacked and security personnel killed, the hunters battle for survival.

Well Russia use to own Alaska, So there's that.

And Alaskans can see Russia from their back porches.

Well I've never been to either, so I wouldn't know the difference. Aside from the speaking of Russian or not, of course.

They were all Dark Horse Comics first and then got Novelized.

And the Pred story took place in Siberia aka Russia. The Preds crash landed and had to forage for parts while partaking in their fav pastime of killing everything in site.

And the vodka!

Yeah, so suburbia was definitely the opposite of how I was picturing this series coming back with a bang, so I have suddenly lost much hope in this.

They probably need plenty of vodka in Alaska, too.
