I've stayed out of debating this, but it's actually not too far from where I live. Like, I could hop in my car right now and be there not long after sundown. I also have a friend who's a (former) St. Louis police officer. I haven't spoken with him to get his take, but the whole thing is just f*cked.
I realize this isn't a revelatory opinion, but saying a whole lot else is difficult.

The officer has a orbital eye fracture from the fight he had with Mike Brown. Appears Brown was trying to beat the shit out of him.
Yep, assaulting an officer, which would be a violent felony, and make him fair game, tragically. Looks like what we have here is a series of poor judgement calls from a young dumbass. The way he reacted to not being able to purchase the box of cigars show's that he was irrationally prone to violence. Apparently to the extent of being bold enough to hit an officer. Even more reason why dash cams and lapel/vest cams are needed. No need for hearsay and relying on witness accounts.

You're undoubtedly closer. I'm within reasonable driving distance, but it's not in my backyard or anything. But it's close enough that people are buzzing a little bit about it, and not just in a national-chatter sort of way.

and idk you may be closest, maybe not. My older brother is right in the mix of this though, his kids weren't able to go to school and had to stay with me.

But I found nothing from the major news sites. Tells me it should be suspect. Not even the dailymail, the smut news site that sometimes has decent news, had this.
Edit - And this injury does not really change anything in this situation. We already knew Wilson was attacked. I still do not see why Wilson shot at a fleeing Brown. That does not make much sense no matter how you cut it up.
