He was not shot in the back. Autopsy confirms it was from the front.

Too add, not only was he mad about it, he stole it, then went and taunted cars in the middle of the street. A random cop tried to do something about it, Brown came and kicked the shit out of him and he got shot. The officer had previously been awarded for not using his weapon in a situation, so we can tell from the beating the cop took in this situation he felt it necessary to use it drastically.
The cop will never see jail time, he will be commended for doing his job and at the end of the day all the people arrested and looting will look like complete fools for taking advantaged of the situation.
The rioters want justice, what justice will they have when justice has been done already.
